What makes you think losing 10 lbs will turn a 5:00 mile into a 4:30 mile?
Of course I can't be 100% certain, but people here generally estimate the effects of fat loss to be ~2.5-3lbs/sec/mile
That only works to a point. A 4:30 mile is getting to the faster end of things, and if a 5:00 mile is the best you can do right now, you're not going to run a 4:30 by losing 10 lbs any more than I will. I can run about a 5:00 mile right now at best. I weigh 138 at the moment. If I dropped to 128, I'm pretty sure I would still be running a 5:00 mile. Maybe a 4:55.
If what you are suggesting is true, then there would be a hell of a lot of 4:29 milers out there that would be dropping 10 lbs in a hurry so they could simply go out and run a sub-4.
