Not sure why nobody is talking about this, but it was announced a few days ago that due to construction at Hayward Field, Oregon will no longer be hosting NCAAs in 2019 and 2020. Does this mean it heads back to Des Moines? Who is likely to win the bid?
2019 and 2020 NCAAs NOT at Oregon anymore

Sac State FTW!

I guess the FBI investigation into the 2021 Worlds has slowed the money train.

The past hosts not called Eugene "Niketown" Oregon are...
Des Moines 08,11,12
Fayettville 2009
Austin 2004
Sacramento 03,05,06,07
Baton Rouge 2002
I say all of these places suck in June. Austin is the easiest to access, and hosts large meets every year. Any large stadiums recently completed? Kansas would be good, but lack of hotels might be an issue, A&M might be too small as well. -
Personally I think IU would be a good host. Sort of centrally located and they have hosted things in the past.

They also would have to want to host it for that to be the case.
The track is cool, though, tucked away on a corner of campus half surrounded by trees. -
If the University of North Florida can host the Regional (and will again in 2019 and 2021), why not the Championships. It gets a bit warm here but just run the 10,000 on Pacific Coast Time, ie., 1:00 a.m.
Can’t imagine too many cities have hosted the Super Bowl and the NCAA Meet. -
Buffalo in 1998 was the best NCAA ever!! Should go back there for a great meet with proper weather for distance runners.

If you run the 10,000 at 1:00 a.m., you may as well host the meet at a high school track because you won't need any room for spectators. -
I don’t know why USATF and NCAA aren’t held at IUPUI in Indianapolis. Not a huge stadium so crows look good, plenty of hotels and places to eat, reasonble weather for each event area!!!!!!
-
Penn should host it at Franklin Field
Penn Relays is a larger meet so they can definitely manage NCAAs -

Again, they have to want to do it.
And you have to get lucky for good distance running weather in June in central Indiana. -
Icahn stadium?

The NCAA headquarters is 400 meters from the facility. And USATF is there. -

I’ve been to that track. From what I remember, it would take some doing to get it ready to host an NCAA-sized meet. -

Maybe you could email NCAA and USATF and ask why they don't host big meets there anymore?

Probably. They would have to add some stands and space overall is a bit lacking. But it looks they are hosting NCAA Regionals in 2022, according to the webpage linked earlier in this thread, so they will figure it out. -
FYI, I was able to confirm that the bidding process has been reopened. Brief article here.
Thanks to OP for bringing this to our attention.
