Jorgensen raced significantly faster than I thought her capable. Let's see how the next 9 1/2 months go.

I predict Huddle, Jorgensen and Hasay for team 2020. And Jorgensen will crush Hasay in 2019/2020.
This is a bit of a stretch to use one indoor 5k as a predictor for the Olympic Marathon team. Great run though.
Yes- it was an amazing result considering the context.
The only thing we don’t know is if she has the endurance to race hard for 26 miles because she seems to have the speed and mind set. I believe she’s got what it takes to make the team and there isn’t a third person that will take the third spot on the team in 2 years....anyway, we shall see...

I think all of the idiots (and trolls) on this thread trashing Gwen should go gain 30 pounds, have all the disadvantages of a foreign body living in them, go through childbirth and all of the various hormones ramping up and down. She then start training a month or two down the road, and then, after not having raced on the (indoor) track in nine years and most likely has not done much speed other than pace work and then do this. Also note that for those questioning if she can hold it together for a marathon consider that she has more hard 1:50+ efforts than any top American woman marathoner in history, and at the end of the races she can start throwing down close to 5:00 pace for an extended distance.
She put close to a minute (going on memory here so might be off) on the second best woman triathlete in the space of about a mile. The best all other Tri gals have done is 3 wins in a row because it is so hard to be sharp for month after month. She did something like 11 or 12 straight wins. I doubt that she has the wheels to be running 4:40 pace, in part because she will not focus on short distances. She is more focused that probably any current US women marathoners except Shalane and Des Lindon (I am not throw shade on Hasay and others, I just think on the focus side she really has things both prioritized and worked out.
She is not going back to the Tri as it takes a lot more time training for all three and she wants a life and marathon training is not as time or travel intensive. Also realize that she was by far the best US Triathlete in the ITU format in the sport Americans invented.
When Jorgensen announced that she was going all in on the marathon, Back in November, I said that in two years she'll be the top American woman marathoner or near the top.
I'll add another prediction. I think she'll be a sub-2:20 runner by then.
She's a beastess.
So now an unborn baby is a foreign body?
Wow!
It wasn't just the time, but how she ran; Gwen refused to be dropped. Just looking at her body mechanics, I suspect Gwen is going to run faster as the distance increases. Gwen still has a little bit of the gitty up cycling puts in your legs, which I guess will go away over time. I am excited to see her in a track 10K.

No hate, but not impressed. She wouldn't even be an avg african runner with that time. It's not even in the top 2000 5000m times.
http://www.alltime-athletics.com/w_5000ok.htmBut people are going to overhype and perpetuate this crap. Hell Pres Jipchirchir broke the women's half marathon record while pregnant.
Can't wait to see the africans make her bleed in her arrogant attempt to win gold in the olympics in 2 years....
Reminds me of an old joke. A girl gets on a bus and there are no seats. Her face is flushed. She asks a man sitting down if he'd offer his seat to a pregnant woman.
He does. Then he looks at her and says. Wow you don't look pregnant.
She says "Its only 15 minutes, but it does make the legs shakey."

No, it doesn’t appear as that. Do YOU even read/comprehend?
This video on the other thread does (they didn’t fully merge the threads):
https://youtu.be/d-LgFlAT8_0Gwen is being coached by JS and they went out on 15:15 pace which was her goal. She said the bowerman babes were pacing her to a 15:15.
Miracles can happen if you believe in yourself and your support crew believes in you ( and obviously, you need talent, training and commitment). Not saying she’ll get the gold but she’s got a shot if she makes the team. I’m hoping Dibaba wins in 2020 but often the favourites don’t win (Radcliffe/Keitany).
15:15 is exactly what you would expect from someone who ran 53 at the Twin Cities Ten Miler (not an easy course). Yes, she gave birth six months ago, but she's also doing dedicated run training, which she wasn't doing before.
I seriously think that all of these people who say she has no chance don't actually know how good her running resume is.
You are a complete fucknozzle...She's got a six month old. She's most likely still nursing.....

Sub 14:45 outdoor peak race this season.
she runs 15:15 and suddenly you think she's gonna be the #2 US all-time?
Infeld has a 14:54 PR and ran 15:15i. Haven't seen the video but not sure how the race played out.
She gave birth in mid august! Theres huge potential for Gwen.
She has said she is still nursing and pumps once daily..

She appears to be promoting self. That will bring the LR hate.
Here is a little video I though together with her.
We will be shooting an entire series up at altitude these next few weeks. What all do you guys want to see? If you have questions comment on her youtube page and we will do interviews of her answering them.

This is cool stuff. Can't stand the weird comments that come up. Thanks for putting the video together, and I would love to see more of her training up at altitude. There is so much stuff that could be interesting. I'd love to hear about how her workouts (particularly long runs) are progressing, what her spring/summer race plans are (even if they have to be vague). Really excited to see how she transitions into full time running.

I noticed that too. Her shoulders are impressive.
Thus , the ability to create a wide arc , lots of club head speed. Not the distance of the long LPGA players, but still hits it out there. She should work on the the short game. On the flip side, I saw Emily I on the driving range . She was one big hot mess. could not hit the ball at all.
Her time isn’t top 50 if you count outdoor times but it’s top 50 for women’s indoor 5000s. Click the “indoor marks” in the top left hand corner of the page you linked.

Why do you hate your own sport so much? Why would you want a clear cheat to beat good honest people trying their best?

Never occurred to me that TD could be cheating and everyone else she beat was good honest people... not inconceivable but I’ll wait for Wada/IAAF/IOC to make that determination.
