Wonder what Touhy would have run?
Wonder what Touhy would have run?
Wow - she just popped out a kid like 6 months ago and is running that fast?
Pretty crazy... all of that cycling and swimming has built her quite an aerobic base

Now that she’s experienced defeat, she will use her newfound grit to outkick Gwen and give Emily Infeld a run for her money.
BTC debut? So far doesn't seem like it. Why hasn't she joined them officially? What is she waiting for?

Sub 14:45 outdoor peak race this season.
she runs 15:15 and suddenly you think she's gonna be the #2 US all-time?
Infeld has a 14:54 PR and ran 15:15i. Haven't seen the video but not sure how the race played out.
This is a 15:15 indoor 5000m 6 months after having a baby, and after switching from triathlon training. I think "predicting" a 14:45 seems a bit optimistic, but it certainly isnt outside the realm of possibility. I'm definitely surprised that she ran this fast.
I think more realistically, she will probably run a few good races this year, then get injured. Then next year I would expect her to come back and remain healthy. That first year is a tough one, a bit of a transition.
Faster than I would have thought based on what she ran at Wisconsin. Not surprised though as years of significant aerobic development have made her an extremely fit athlete. Once saw a 17 year old male triathlete run 8:08 for 3k so yes top level triathletes can run. Which I know the running community hates to acknowledge.
It's not really that surprising after all. She spent quite a while working on the 2nd half of her Olympic distance run speed. Gwensanity y'all!!!!!

A tough transition from what? Wasn't she already doing running training IN ADDITION to cycling and swimming?
I'm in 15:40 shape maybe quicker, I thought that I was fit for my age, now I feel stink.
Slow.... C rated africans can run that in their sleep. Nope, she said that she is going after world gold, so she is being held to that standard.

She appears to still be under contract as an Asics athlete, so I think even though she can train with BTC she can’t sign on to the team.

Yes

Her IG no longer acknowledges Asics and was pictured running in Pegasus...
What made her go into tri? She has the perfect runner's physique.
Was she wearing Asics or Nike spikes/clothes?
Forget the marathon- she should focus on making either the 5K or 10K team.

Was wondering why the unattached.

I think 14:45 is a stretch. There's a lot of women that just get stuck in that 14:55-15:05 barrier, it's truly another jump to 14:45. I certainly think she can go at least 15:00 outdoors though. I mean, just giving birth and then transitioning from triathlon.
Courtney paced them through 3200, 4:52 at 1600, and 9:49 through 3200. Infeld did all the work the last 2k and Gwen just tried to hold on as long as she could. She tried swinging wide on the last lap, but Infeld just held her off. You could tell Infeld was digging though.
Honestly, put Infeld with more competition, had she not run US Cross 6 days ago, she is definitely running 15:00. Her indoor PR is 15:00 from Millrose 2 years ago I believe. Infeld said she's chasing fast times for this off year. If she stays healthy which is the main factor in her case, don't be surprised to see 14:50 and 30:45 if she gets in a good 10k.
Jorgensen will run 31:30 at Payton Jordan.

Yes--40mi p/wk so substantially LESS than the 120mi she's aiming to hit in time.
