Oh, is Reed another ultra dude whose "speed" is reflected @ 12 minute pace for 27 hours?

Are you an idiot? I’d say it worked out just fine. It resulted in two NCAA titles , a us title , a 1.4 second pb (43.7) and a Nike contract.
Yet you sitting in you mom’s basement at age 35 think he had a bad year as he was only 7th at worlds and was better in June than August? Please.
Considering there is no global outdoor championship this year if I were him I’d be doing everything I could to win word indoors (and I have no idea if he’s doing that as he hasn’t raced).
POD
44.50 anchor at Worlds would have won the relay....

reed, what are you hating on? Worked tremendously well for him last year. Do you forget he was a damn collegian last year?
He ran 43.70 and broke the NCAA 400m Record held by Quincy Watts.
He then ran 44.03 to WIN the USATF Outdoor Track & Field Championships 400m as a collegian.
Oh, he also won indoors. And the 4 x 400m.
and he won Silver at the 2017 IAAF World Championships.
That's a damn good year, son.
+1
He knows what he is doing. He was solid all throughout last year. I don’t know too many athletes who set the world afire in his/her first Olympics and especially after a grueling season. America needs the 400 world record back and this guy is so reminiscent of Michael Johnson. He seems to work hard and have a good head on his shoulders. An off year is perfect to be peaking for USA outdoors and shut out the season early with a bang.

Last year He was younger and too busy.
He'll be faster and not locked into all that was happening. There were way too many races.
As an aside, you have to remember that the faster he runs, the more recovery he gets.
:-)
Any reason to be in peak shape later this year?

Rojo I was temporarily banned from this site for asking those first four words. That's not the way to talk to people on LRC, I was told. By you,
Hypocrisy is rewarded on this site. Reed is correct to imply that Kerley peaked too early last year. However, he had a tremendous ride on the way there and since he was a collegian then, it wasn't possible to do much different. This year he would want to be very good for World Indoors soon, so that is a good reason to be sharp already, but clearly he should not overrace and probably should take a short break after World Indoors so that he can absolutely hammer on the circuit and get the world record. Very good to see him running so well so early but you do have to wonder about people hammering in February with regard to the summer circuit. It rarely works.
LOL hahaha, that was good!!!

Yopppppppppppp, that and the stupidity.
Kerley is obviously moving to the 800 this year and when he does you'll all look like fools.
A lot of great track & field training stuff out there, you will regret if you missed it : https://goo.gl/jGwcYY
LOL! Did you also see, he began his response my mimicking VENTO!!
"Are you an idiot?"
Mom's basement too...
6.5/10 for a good effort and embracing the spirit of his own board. Credit for using the meme of one of the board's most wellknown track posters even if the tenor wasn't quite right....
But rojo, for full authenticity that should begin:
"~is this a joke? moran!!"
And don't forget to put the DVTT(tm) into the post....
"Time trial, no pressure of competition. Insufficient speedwork for prep for lactic decay in closing 100. Corrected ~44.1 INTRINSIC (NOT better than Ryun 44.0!!)"

I'm from Florida.
What's a basement and what's the equivalent for those states that don't have basements?
I wonder where I'll be living with mom at 35.
Same place you are now.
Couldn't break :55 to save your life, Slow as Phuk, and raggin' on Kerley.
.....And living in your momma's house, but perhaps not in the basement.
You should go challenge Proctor & Gamble's patents. You are clearly the
rightful owner of the Douche Bag.
These punks going after the OP and falling over Kerley are the same guys who were hating on Clayton Murphy fine early season form before he got hurt. Yet they're too dense to ask themselves why they think this way.
Great run by Kerley. More impressive even than Ches running a rabbited time trial under perfect conditions.
Yes if he in fact did this and it was his all-time best that might not have been very wise.
Youth is often wasted on the young.
FWIW, they hand time and start the clock when his foot touches down on the first stride.
How do I know? I spent 12 weeks timing for them :|

I'm not out of my element, and by the way the line is "Forget it (my name), you're out of your element"
good to see I have some fans on the interwebs. I guess my secret letsrun identity "reed" doesn't work any more
And a couple people backed me up regarding Kerley...yeah he had an amazing season but if you don't care about NCAAs then he definitely peaked too soon and had a pretty bad set of races at Worlds. I'm not the first person here to judge a runner's season based purely on championships...but maybe it's not fair. oh well, NO RAGRETS
and FYI rojo was mistaken in both my age, employment status, and basement status. I'm in sunny California (65 degrees and sunny right now BTW) where you don't need basements. It's true that I may be an idiot from time to time but I don't think rojo is qualified to determine that
Yeah but he was aiming for a peak at those NCAA races. Worlds was just icing on the cake. You might not of thought NCAAs was important, but he and his coach did, and that's all that matters. With no outdoor championship to peak for, it doesn't really matter this year. Additionally, he could still run crazy fast in July or August. A decent hand timed 400m TT doesn't mean anything one way or the other.
