Say it with me...correlation does not equal causation...age of first birth is highly correlated with socioeconomic status

Interestingly, this might be the last year Jenny could have a good shot at a AR. With Kipyegon out I wonder if that will affect the quality of races, I doubt it though. Sifan is a beast, Dibaba always seems to put some sub-4s together, and Muir (likely) the clean 1500m WR holder. In an "off year," I hope Jenny chases fast times like in 2014. However, 2015 showed that sometimes having the intent to chase fast times throughout a season (i.e. Jenny in 2014) does not yield the same results that just being really fit in a crazy fast, WR race does (2015 Monaco Diamond League). Wetmore has off-hand and implicitly said 2021 will be her last season - but I wonder if she can keep PRing. Simpson has been incrediby consistent, but that doesnt always been PRing. Maybe she will be a Nick Willis and be PRing at 32, or maybe she will always be a medal contender.

Is that what happened to Jamin?
Probably. Everybody knows about the increased risk of stuff like downs syndrome with increasing maternal age, less are aware of the association with increased depression, anxiety, and other mental illness with maternal age.
https://www.apa.org/pubs/journals/releases/abn-abn0000119.pdfThere is one prominent American female runner who decided to have a kid after 35, and you can tell something is a bit off.
If older age was the issue, then getting a bit higher at 30-33, and higher in the next group, should imply that those over 40 would be quite far off. Instead, that group seems to be the same as the 25-29. This is based on a really quick look, but you need to fully explain if this is the case or not, and if it is, explain why you think this does not destroy the assertion that you are making. Note Shannon says she will race some. That is to protect her contract from Nike that demands she race a minimum each year and she can't go 90 days without racing or risk having contract frozen and getting no pay but unable to leave Nike. Its whats led to several females leaving Nike over the years. Probably illegal but who is going to sue?
too bad that Nike punishes runners for being human. Having kids, getting injuries, etc.
i hope to see more athletes choose companies like New Balance or Hoka as their shoe sponsor since they don't take away your salary for those things.

Where do you get this information? Are you privvy to her contract?
Maybe she just wants to keep active and compete to maintain some level of fitness during her pregnancy

No doubt that is part of it, but there are also probably contract issues. Who knows what her particular contract says, but if it's anything like Boris Berian's, she is subject to reductions if she doesn't meet various targets.
