she wouldve beat the whole millrose field
her and marielle hall
2nd fastest American indoor 3k ever. Shalane 1st in 8:33
Ran a 4:31.07 last 1600.. would've been competitive in the Mile too. In fact, the splits were very similar to Millrose Mile
Millrose was a race with tripping and surging. This was a time trial. Still amazing performance but not Millrose
Dang, would have been great if her and Hall would have been in the Millrose field. I'm sure they could have gotten in, wonder why they decided to go to Boston instead?
Not the first time BTC has done this, sending athletes to Boston for a time trial instead of racing the same distance at Millrose. Say what you want about NOP but they focus on competing. To me, that’s much more interesting.
The real race was in New York today.
very impressive and unexpected, and that close is solid in a fast race. 8:40 for Hall is also surprising.

Rupp is boring as heck.
Runners who go for it are far more interesting.

What exactly has Rupp failed to “go for”? US titles? Olympic medals? Major marathon wins? He’s gone for and gotten all of these. He even “went for” a US XC title today. This is one of those Rupp criticisms that is completely unfounded.
“Oh, he’d be more interesting if he’d make a stupid move early in a race and blow up. It sucks how he always runs smart, well-planned races”.

Totally agree. He's even "gone for it" when it comes to running fast times: multiple American records, 3:50 mile, etc

NOP does two training cycles a year so right now they are fit. Bowerman only does one so their athletes are running as a fitness test, they're not in competitive shape.
Rupp is so boring and uninteresting yet was still mentioned on a thread that had nothing to do with him...

Houlihan nearly runs an American record at 3k indoors but she’s “not in shape?”
Unbelievable that Nike lets her get away with this, exactly whats wrong with the sport. She is one of the top athletes in the country and she skips Millrose, a world renowned, nationally televised meet to run at a crappy college meet instead. Just disgraceful.
Also congrats to her for being in really fantastic shape, hope she makes the World Indoor team...oh wait she may not run at USA's? Bowerman group is so unpredictable its hard to be a fan of theirs. I love that they train super hard, but it would be nice to see them actually care about the sport sometimes rather than cherry pick "races".

It is obvious that NONE of the Bowerman TC women were in any kind of competitive shape today on Feb. 3, 2018.
For example, here is what happened today Feb. 3, 2018:
1) Shelby Houlihan (Irish) ran a 3000m race in 8:36, which is the equivalent of 14:55 for 5000m.
2) Marielle Hall ran the 3000m in 8:40, which is the equivalent of 15:01 for 5000m
3) Kate Grace was 2nd in the Millrose mile.
4) Colleen the Quickly Quiqley (Irish) won the Millrose mile.
5) Emily Infeld won the U.S. Cross Country Country Championship
It is obvious that today was another complete disaster for the Bowerman TC women.
