I'm glad that Doug has a wonderful wife and kids that he is happy with, as I also hope that most of the board has a wonderful relationship with their spouse or partner.
With that being said, I hope that Doug also realizes that is far more important than educating younger people on this board about who he is. Just like an earlier poster, I was not aware of who he is as well. I also am born just a few years prior to that poster born in '93, so I would say that there are not many millennials that are aware of who Doug is.
In regards to the $1 million comment, that is not something to brag about considering that Doug must be in his early 50's by now. Maybe I am biased because my dad got his MBA from Wharton, and was making that in his annual salary in his early 40's, which excludes dividends from his equity in various private companies. Of course, maybe my view is skewed because I was given a "college fund" that exceeded that when I graduated from undergrad.
If this were a few decades ago then having $1 million would mean more, but in 2018 you better have more than that if your kids are going to attend Ivy League schools. All in all, Doug has accomplished a lot more than most Americans if he is in a healthy, happy marriage with wonderful children.
So, congrats to Doug on having achieved what most people do not have, which is true happiness in his marriage and life outside of athletics.
