Well between the Hoeys and Slagowski, they've STOLEN enough milers from PSU that they certainly should be a "miler's paradise."
It was EASTERN Oregon that stole Slagowski from Penn State
Please don't let facts get in the way.

Stanford had some incredible 1500/mile depth in the Vin era... But I’d imagine the McDonnell Arkansas teams take the cake. Anyone care to do a comparison?
The Oregon teams of the 2010-present era were/are drowning in sub-4 talent. I remember one of those teams (maybe in the Wheating, Centro, Acosta era) boasted of 12 guys that had mile PR's at 4:00 or under or 1500 PR's equal to 4:00 or under. Just look at the 2015 team listed above that scored 69 pts in the indoor national meet. They were all 4 flat or better guys. Chez, Jenkins, Winn, Gregorek, Alexander, Geohegan, Franzmair plus Prakel, Haney and whoever else was buried on their non-nationals roster.
Arkansas was undoubtedly legendary. Especially in the days of Falcon, O'Mara, Gary Taylor, Matt Taylor, et al but the depth of 4 flat talent wasn't ten or twelve deep. Maybe 6 or 7?
Oregon is just ridiculous year after year with the miler thing.
Rupp's senior year, when they broke the school 4x mile record, the Ducks had six sub-4 guys: Rupp, Centro, Wheating, Shadrack Biwott, Jordan MacNamara, and who can name the sixth?
A.J. Acosta.
I wish we could get one of these guys to tell us what type of scholarship they received. I use my handle to try to bring some knowledge to related threads but the collective group always has significantly more knowledge than any individual. Doing the math on the current Oregon team, I say that there is barely space to start Hasty at 1/4. If they have guys who can’t walk-on at 4:10, that only makes sense.
Idk what the deal with Maton currently is but he’s another sub 4 guy. Plus Austen Tamagno ran 3:41 last spring, and they just got James West, who can certainly break 4 too.
There probably aren’t 30 colleges that have 1 guy who can break 4, yet Oregon has a backlog of 8. I have been impressed some years when Georgetown or Michigan would have 3-4 guys do it. It seems like Oregon snuck up on some of us this year. Flotrack predicted Iowa State to win the DMR but they have nobody sub4 yet. I am betting on Oregon.
My guess is Ches being gone opened up some partial scholarships to split. While he was there, most of the guys probably didn't have much of one if any at all.
From a 2015 thread, there is a ranking through 2011 (although some may have been after leaving Oregon), plus the following names:
Daniel Winn
Colby Alexander
Chad Noelle
Jeremy Elkaim
Johnny Gregorek
Matt Miner
Will Geohagen
Edward Cheserek
Eric Jenkins
Brett Johnson
Mac Fleet

You’re missing Sam Prakel and Blake Haney.
The reference to Slagowski sent me looking for results and he just competed for the first time for Eastern Oregon last week!
Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week – Redshirt Freshman Michael Slagowski
Slagowski, a redshirt freshman from Meridian, Idaho, won the 600-meter title at the Bronco Invitational, hitting an "A" standard mark to nationals with a time of 1:19.64. He set a program record in the event and started his career in Blue and Gold in impressive fashion. The time is also the second fastest in the NAIA this season.
Here's an updated Oregon list but I haven't looked up the other pr's.

With the additions, which I just slotted in at 3:59, except for Stanovsek, there have been at least 50 sub 4 Oregon guys.
Did Freddy Ovett ever run any races for Oregon.

Yeah, I think he ran a sub 2 at some point
What are Andy Powell's training philosophies? He's arguably the best mid-d/mile coach in the country.
Powell, Vin, GAGS. Top three mile coaches.

A few guys get full. Chez, Centro, Wheating ( his last 2 years). Most get nowhere near full. Many All-Americans and sub 4 types get little to nothing. Books possibly. These guys know that if they have serious talent, walk on, and do exactly what Powell prescribes, they will be sub 4 without a doubt and be connected like nowhere else. If they want to make Olympic Trials, run on an NCAA Championship track team, your chances are better at Oregon than anywhere else if you're a miler AND you get to do it at the track and field Mecca and in a town that is crazy about track and distance and milers.
It isn't about money with ANY of these milers. It's about running fast. Fault them all you want for turning down serious money elsewhere but they either don't need the money or they just don't give a ratz azz. They just want to be fast and they know Powell will make them really fast.
Oregon knows this is the case. Except for extreme outliers like Drew Hunter and Centro and Chez, Oregon realizes they can get guys for nothing and keep them for nothing and groom them into guys like Alexander and Winn and Stanovsek and all the other guys that eventually break 4 in college but weren't tip-of-your tongue names in HS.
Hell, beam me back a few decades and if you tell me I can be coached by Piwell and run for UO, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
I don't fault them at all. In fact, I admire them for passing up money and running for the right reasons. Most of the people who post here seem to think that every decent runner gets a full ride through some secret program. Inside Scoop helped in reinforcing the fact that many good runners get nothing or books or maybe a bit more if they attend a 2nd tier program. It's great when a team gets to the point of being so attractive to runners that they are asking to run on the team regardless of compensation. Tell somebody that Hasty is not getting a full ride and they think that you know nothing.

Yes! Somedoby that get's it!
And Hasty is nowhere near a full ride.
Someone made a similar post last year, and the result was that the amount of points earned in the mile and 1500m by non-Cheserek male ducks was 0.
