No - not Gay Marriage.
Polygamy.
It happened in December but I missed it as I was ironically on paternity leave.

The Bill, which amended existing legislation, was passed by parliament last month to formalize traditional practice regarding marrying more than one person.
"Marriage is the voluntary union of a man and a woman, whether in a monogamous or polygamous union," the presidential statement added.
The initial bill had given a wife the right to veto the husband's choice, but male members of Parliament overcame party divisions to push through a text that dropped this clause.

Polygamy is legal in 58 countries around the world

1. Why single out Kenya?
2. What does polygamy have to do with running? -
Polygamy is fairly standard throughout most of Africa. Oh, how strange culture is.

The good news about polygamy is you get to have sex with different women. The bad news is you are married to all of them.

I am so glad to see that the co-founder of this RUNNING SITE is keeping non-running related trash off of it's message board and abstaining from starting posts that have any chance of perpetuating it's xenophobic/racist reputation in anyway!

The only shocking thing about this is that it wasn't already legal. Polygamy is very common in those areas/cultures. How thick are the walls around America that you find this surprising?
-
Great news for Mario Mendoza!!!
-
Does it go both ways?

Somebody call the press! looks like Rojo is being racist again.

So is asking your government for permission to marry someone, then entering in a 3rd party contract with it. -

Sounds like someone got their panties all in a wad.
What is wrong with posting a thread about Kenya, a country that is often talked about here and a country that produces some of the top runners in the world? Not every thread has to be about predicting someone's 5K based off of one workout.
Learning about Kenyan laws, traditions, and culture is a good thing. Ignorance leads to xenophobia and racism. I guess you prefer to build that wall huh?
Some people seem to hate the brojos so much I sit amazed they ever come to this site in the first place. -
This is not news. There have been many Kenyan runners living in Mexico who have already started having second wives with kids.

Interesting article on how polygamy may increase class divisions. The article focuses on South Sudan. I never game polygamy much thought. After this article I view it much more negatively than I did before. -
PNSO in Egypt:
Mona Abu Shanab, another Egyptian polygamy advocate, argues that polygamy is a sensible way to assuage male sexual frustration, a common cause of divorce. “Women after marriage just disregard their men [and] focus on their kids. They…always have an excuse for not engaging in intimate relations; they are always ‘tired’ or ‘sick’. This makes the men uncomfortable and drives them to…have a girlfriend.” -
