Did you know a 16 year old boy from Norway ran a 3:39 just last year?
So this year it could be that the most exciting three u18 1500m talent in the world are non-African :
Jakob Ingebrigsten (Norway) (3:39 at 16)
Isaiah Priddey (NZ) (3:44 at 17)
Max Burgin (GB) (3:53 at 15, 1:49 at 800m WR age group, intends to prioritize 1500m in 2018).
No Priddey is pretty much maxed out in the training department and he wasn't smooth like Ovett was at that age. Nick Willis was doing like 20-30 mpw when he drop out a c3:43/4:01 times (barely trained & just fast). The kid the same age as Priddey did 8:15 for 3k last year @ 16 only to slow this year. Apparently Quax has a son about this age (maybe a year older) who is just as good, if he has his old man's guts he could be interesting. Each year America, Australia, Britain and NZ pump out runners that are supposedly "the next Ryun, Elliott, Ovett, Walker" that never turn out. I am hoping that middle distance running does become cool again among the kids of the present, this is key.
