It took 8 pages for someone to finally bring up Messi. That's a sad commentary.

Messi was brought up much earlier

Did you see or read his lips before the game last Sunday. He was squatting down on the sideline and yelled at somebody "they should get those people off the fvcking field right now" While they were doing the color guard ceremonies.
Seriously, bro? That's the best you can come up with? You must hate those guys that yell at kids to get off the track when a race is about to start.
The people on the field were doing their job.
I really don't care, but ask Garapollo about the support from the guy?
saying "greatest GOAT" is like saying Rio Grande River

Didn’t happen.
Jordan was a two-sport professional athlete! I mean, everyone knows his basketball exploits but he also excelled in professional baseball!
Well, he excelled in minor league professional baseball.
OK, "excelled" might be a little too strong of a word. He was successful.
By successful, I mean he was better than the average player.
The average Little League player.
Seriously, there are no Little League players that could have struck Jordan out.
Except maybe Danny Almonte. But he was too old so that doesn't count.
So basically he did not suck at baseball. Or T-ball.
So I stand by my original statement, Jordan excelled in professional baseball!
Are you serious?
Jordan.

Gordie Howe
So one more ring and Brady is the GOAT. I'm okay with that.

I'm not saying he was the better athlete but neither of those guys reached anything close to wayne's level of dominance in their respective sport
This was my first thought as well and I'm not even a hockey fan.

They even stole my subject line, :"greatest GOAT"
I'm not even sure that Jordan is the GOAT basketballer anymore.

He never really was the goat. If you had to pick one player to build a team around there would be a couple I would pick before jordan.
Jabbar, Bill Russell , Shaq, Lebron. And possibly durant. Jordan had a great team around him, a great coach, and refs that would not call anything on him.
Certainly Jordan was amazing but the three other factors turned him into a legend.
Messi is the greatest goat.
Once we've figured out who the "greatest greatest" is, then presumably we'll need to figure out the "greatest greatest greatest" etc...

The term GOAT is applied to the player who is considered the greatest player in that particular sport. The greatest GOAT compares the best players from all sports to see which one of these GOATs is the greatest.
The term makes sense.
Instead of saying he is the Michael Jordan of......people might begin saying he is the Tom Brady of.......I
As the supreme compliment

Messi is the greatest goat.
During his prime, I never saw anyone stop Shaq from scoring.
