So its a newish job that I thought I was doing well at (projects getting done, responsive to team, proposing new projects, taking on extra tasks) and then last Friday, BAM, boss tells me I have a punctuality problem and follows it up with email cc'ing the division leader.
Then today, I'm signing a written warning from HR - whaaaat?
I'm suppose to be in at 8:30 and more times then not I get in 8:45-9:05 (9:10 on Fridays). The times I have been there at 8:30 the office is empty.
By the letter of the law, I'm tardy; by the spirit of getting my sh*t done, I'm fine.
Here's my question: after only 3 months on the job, is this just a hard-ass boss trying to push around her weight or is it a signal that I'm not as hot as I think and should start looking else where?
Side note: it took them several months to fill this position and I do in fact bring some skills/experience that are less than run of the mill. If I leave (or get terminated), a lot of stuff that needs to get done won't get done (as it didn't prior to my hiring) and the organization loses credibility.
2nd side note: I've lost about 10 lbs since being hired due to marathon training resulting in an all-American fratboy look turning into something closer to an Auschwitz survivor. I think my boss thinks I'm gay too and she's highly religious.
3rd side note: Probably drank a bit too much at the holiday party (and after-bar) and chatted-up an older well-endowed admin who told me she thinks I'm attractive. We didn't do anything (thank goodness) but I'm sure that didn't help my office cred. Was late that day (9:30)...
