Last week I (and some of you) went to the Boulder Running Clinics high school clinic which had a ridiculous roster of speakers.
The speakers were the coach of this years NXN boys' champions, Joan Hunter (Drew Hunter's mom) of Loudoun Valley (VA); the coach of the NXN girls’ runners-up, Dan Iverson of Naperville North (IL); the coach of the 3rd place NXN boys' team, Jonathan Dalby of Mountain Vista (CO); the coach of the 2015 NXN boys' champ, Doug Soles of Great Oak (CA); and John O'Malley of Sandburg (IL), the coach of 2017 Foot Locker champ Dylan Jacobs (and also coach of 09-10 Foot Locker champ Lukas Verzbicas). Just listing their #1 accomplishment doesn't do them justice.
My broad 10 things I learned from the clinic piece is up at the link below (don't worry we don't make you click through a slide show to see each one;)) but I didn't get into a lot of specifics. Each coach does things a little bit differently.
My goal with this thread isn't to get into specifics of training but figured I'd start a thread on the clinic so I could see what questions you have on it and maybe some other LRCers who were there would chime in. One thing I took away from the clinic is there are a lot of high school coaches on LetsRun.com including the coaches teaching at the clinic so I want to do more to reach them.
Full disclosure: the clinic was an advertiser on LetsRun and that's how I found out about it, but I (well LRC) paid to get to Boulder to attend it.
