That might be true about the 3:31, regarding speed is Filip fast enough to medal and Jakob isn't going to be any slower. It might be smarter to aim for the steeplechase though, less runners capable of running an 800 in 1.43-1.45 there..
Steeplechase would be a better aim for him I agree.
Jakob appears to have less of a kick than Fillip, even in junior races he has a less pronounced turn of speed and prefers to make it a long run for home. Fillip has a much better kick than Henrik also despite both being quality athletes. It is what won Fillip a bronze medal in London and the only way to medal these days.
Nobody is running 3:28 from the front for 3.75 laps like Hicham anymore...
Too bad he doesn't want to run the steeplechase as he thinks of the 1500m as the nr 1 distance in track and field.
Jakob has as good basic speed as Filip, the difference regarding tactic in junior races is that Jakob is way better than everyone else unlike Filip who was only one of the best. Also Henrik was a far better junior runner than Filip, destroying the other national runners towards his last years as a junir runner. Filip has always struggled with injuries, sickness and allergies and used to run in the pack. Also, Filip is supposed to be less though mentally regarding solo running than Henrik and Jakob.
So, regarding speed thats obviously his biggest challenge, but he doesn't seem to have more problems with speed than Filip. Its quite interesting what they're going to do with Jakob and his speed development.
