No way he runs that fast, that's faster than Centro's PR. I'd say 7:45 + or - a couple seconds. -
If he runs sub 7:50, that would be quite remarkable in January.
I think 7:54 and change -
7:54 would be a great start.
-
7:59. Not sure what he is doing in this event so maybe he will surprise.

Engels is an 800/1500 guy like Murphy. Murphy ran like 8:16 in his 3k. Looking at other 800/1500 guys...
Robby Andrews has run 8:40
Wheating ran a 13:59 road 5k
Merber has run 7:49
Torrence ran 7:40 (7:53 in his 800m days)
Leo 8:14
Centro 7:40
seems like high 7:40s could be likely if he's taking it seriously, but more likely chasing 7:50s -

This is why we can't have nice things. Please tell me that you're not an adult, and are very new at track and field. -
Didn't he run a few races as a pro already? Do you mean pro indoor debut or pro 3k debut?
-
Can't predict because we have not seen him race recently, but we can guess.
Plus it's the first race, not too important. -
7:53.
And he has certainly raced a number of times in the NOP singlet, so I'm guessing it's just his pro '3k' debut, although I don't see a 3k time from college, either. So maybe his 3k debut in general. -

Yeah, i remember him chasing the mid-race 800 bonus in the 5th ave mile ... -
Did he cut the mullet? Stache?
7:54 -
Alberto typically has his athletes ready to roll right off the bat so if he’s capable of running sub 7:50 he’ll do it here.

Merber, Torrence, and Centro are all 1500/3k/5k guys
I mean, Centro ran 13:20 early season coming off of injury in 2014. David Torrence has consistently ran the 5k 13:17-13:25 since 2012 and was an Olympian in the 5k. Merber has been more solid in his 3k's than this his 800's.
Engels in particular ran 24:00 for 8k I believe so he definitely has strength. I think a bit more strength than Wheating, Andrews, and Murphy, but at the same time, he doesn't have the raw speed these 3 guys did either. I would say long term, Engels will be a 1500, 3k guy once he gets adjusted to the NOP training. I expect around 7:55-8:00, but I think he could go 7:40-7:45 in a couple of years. -

He ran 7:55 for the win

I'm going out on a limb to proudly declare him the GOAT! -
Hmm, guess he's not much of a responder.

this wasnt his pro debut, he raced in the NOP kit multiple times last summer.
