I'm not going to pile on here - in my opinion, country music is an outdated artform. I grew up in the country - and in small towns. Country music is about a glorified and exaggerated past, and not innovative or envelope-pushing at all lyrically or musically.
Essentially, country music is non-artistic. It's background music for people who want to pretend the rural past was always great and the urban lifestyle (which they likely live) is something foreign.
I wouldn't marry someone who liked country music, not because I hate the genre or people who listen to it, but because I wouldn't wind up in a relationship with someone who disliked interesting or progressive art.
