According to marathonguide(dot)com....Average finish time of 2018 Disney Marathon was a blazing 5:48:43.
Wow. Just wow. I'm not the fastest runner on these boards (by a looooong stretch) but is this even running? It's a freaking 13:18/mile pace.

Average as a mean or a median? Might not make a difference here, but would be good to know.
It was much, much faster if you don't count the down time that people had when they stopped to take pictures with Goofy, Mickey and the gang.
...or riding roller coasters during the race.
This might mean more if it was a different marathon. I doubt many people would choose running around Disney World and snapping selfies with Goofy if they really wanted a fast time. I expect almost everyone is doing it for admission to the park and an entertaining experience, not a competitive race.

No idea. Marathonguide doesn't say which one it is. (and I don't feel like trying to see if they have an explanation)
In America they need to rename the marathon, "let's walk for six hours".
Would you have rather people been at home on their couch, watching sports, or maybe at a bar drinking beer?
My sister ran it in 5:16..........now I'm impressed.

You can ride roller coasters during the race? If that's the case, then I need to run Disney.
OMG were elitists and cant accept that some people just do not care as much about running OMG i cant believe some people just walk a marathon If you dont run under 3 you are a cuckold omg

If you're on something like a 5 or 6 hour pace the parks will start to open and you can do rides in animal kingdom or hollywood studios
Admittedly, it sounds slow, but maybe it was just a tactical race.
That is a pretty terrible average even if most were "running" for fun. There is likely a cutoff time also and very few finishing below 3hr.
But at least people are willing to try it. It is likely that most are not runners even by a basic definition of running a few times a week. Most will probably never do it again, so it likely does not represent a healthy trend. This is just a "check box" for most people to put on their InstaTwitFace account so others will "like". Unfortunately, those of us who race a marathon get no more credit from the vast majority of the population. Anyway, Disney got a million dollars richer from it so it's a win for them.
