I wonder how she feels about it. I thought the AW preview said she wanted to PR but just now I went back and I re-read it and it didn't exactly say that. Here is what is said pre-race:

In a mixed race this time, there will be no record attempt but the veterinary medicine student will no doubt have an eye on bettering her 3000m indoor PB of 8:26.41.
“I’m really looking forward to another GAA Miler Meet event at the Emirates as I love to race in Scotland when I can,” said Muir, who claimed 1500m and 3000m European indoor titles in Belgrade last March.

Excellent. She might even threaten O'Sullivan's world record.

Thank You.
I end up watching more European XC & Track races than those in the USA because you have to pay for most races here, in capitalist USA.
I love watching Laura, it really motivates me.
^ If you invest serious money to record a particular event, you'll likely want a return on that investment when people watch what you record. If your investment consists of a horribly unprofessional bad phone-quality video, then you probably don't expect much, if anything, in return.

Free and not phone quality.
This may help

I'm warming up to that wee lass.
She can care for my dog any time. Aye!
I thought that the Scottish beauty would beat Jenny Simpson at the Olympics. Can't wait til she becomes a full time runner.

I agree with everything you say. however, it is also worth bearing in mind the difference between the US and the UK in this regard. I have read on LRC threads discussing the quality of video at US HS x-country meets, camera positions, discussion of keeping the camera focused on the finish line versus following the winner, etc. you have live feed with splits coming off the course mid-race, you have detailed pre-race predictions based on season's stats and you have post-race interviews. and this is a x-country meet with runners who are, essentially, school kids.
in the UK, for comparison, you would be lucky to get that level of coverage for an international match, let alone HS x-country. I would bet serious money there is not one media outlet in the UK that could even tell you when the HS x-country champs take place, much less covers them with even a written report. don't even bother asking about splits, or team scores, or photos. you would be locked up for being insane if you asked for video. there is zero opportunity for fans to know in advance who is running much less obtain their stats and these races have never and will never be reported on or broadcast on tv. this indoor meet at Glasgow included a number of athletes preparing for the european indoor championships in March and the commonwealth games in Australia in April but the only UK media to mention any of it was Athletics Weekly.
that shaky, out-of-focus hand-held video shot from the back of the bleachers with no commentary or runner ID is the absolute peak of athletics video coverage in the UK. Laura Muir Fan[/] asked, "is there video," as though that were the most normal thing in the world to ask, but I spluttered my coffee across my desk when I read the question and am astonished that there actually is a video of any sort, however inept and unprofessional it seems. what the US fan gets in terms of sports coverage is light years ahead of anything available, even to dedicated nerdy athletics fans, in the UK, and that affects your expectations accordingly. I don't think most of you appreciate how well served your hobby is.
Cheers.
The tide is high, but she's holding on. She's gone to be the number one. She's not the kind of girl, who give's up just like that. Oh no. Laura Muir is literally a white Almaz Ayana. I can't wait to see how she progressed this year. It is my dream literally, to some day get down to the 8:30's for a 3k. What are my chances?
Don't give up hope! 5 years ago Australia was behind the UK in terms of athletics coverage. We now have a livestream with commentary for just about every meet no matter the standard from some interclubs, to Milers Club and National Tour meets. You can also find replays of every race on youtube from Vic Milers Club for the last 5 years or so. Livestreams are so easy to setup now days and the gear relatively cheap I don't know why the UK hasn't followed suit yet.
Idiot. We want video not commentating. Not expensive to video a race.
