I'm not really aware of her career but two 2nd places and a third place in US championships is legit.
Brad is a very nice person and while his coaching methods are outside of the box the attention he gives to his athletes is second to none. I recently moved from Boulder back East but I always saw his group training hard. I think a Nike contract is too overrated and while it may have been cool at one time to be associated with them, there are too many strings attached which make it less fun to be associated with them. I wish Trevor well and I'm sure he will find another sponsor to help him fulfill his dreams.
Is Sheila Reid update? Still sponsored?
Hard to say. Lopez was fifth(?) at USA's this past spring, and Huling had a great 2015 but seemed to be injured the last 2 years.

What Half Marathons? Which US Championships was she 2nd?
There’s a half marathon next week she won’t get second lol

How about Brie Felnagle?
Brie is eye candy and she works it by going to her contract negotiations wearing her prom dress:

Based on the 2nd pic above, I'd sign them all...if they would come up to my office individual to discuss their contract.

You get paid to ware shoes if it helps to sell more shoes, running fast is only one way of achieving that
This.
Nick sells more shoes running 1:49 than Rupp does winning Chicago.

I don't understand how so many people seem to survive in the sport. I know for sure several top 10 US athletes in their events who do not make money, yet they're off at altitude camps, traveling everywhere, etc. So many of these young men/women play the part of professional runner. I see how some groups help find a job and they also get a "shoe deal" which includes gear and some travel monies, but the monies don't add from the outside. And talking about Bowerman or NOP, but OTC, NYNJ, Brooks Beasts? Do their coaches get paid and they receive money to run the club and cover their athletes expenses?
Zap Fitness is the only funding model which makes any sense and they're much more focused on the roads.
What? I must now know what Zap Fitness does. I have no idea how they're model makes sense. Explain.
Nike NOP and others I understand. Get top stars in college, pay them a lot of money, get exposure for the brand. Sell more shoes.
Zap Fitness isn't a shoe brand.

Or as we say in English, "...you lived frugally..."
Zap is a business and would be without any elite runners. It provides running retreats and camps.
Hansons is also a business that would survive without elite runners. They own stores.
Both of these development groups do not make money from athletes. They spend money on athletes along with their shoe sponsors.

I was surprised to see Trevor Dunbar was dropped by Nike. I'm a Mac Fleet fan but how is he still signed and Will Leer was good but not anymore. What does it take to keep a contract these days LOL.
Mac Fleet was probably given a longer contract because he won 2 NCAA outdoor championships. At that time it looked like he was gonna be a super star.

True. The proper way to say it is that she has NOT done anything to make money for the company.
Win at USA Champs on the track or the Olympic Trials. This will make money for the company.
Win a major marathon. She stopped running marathons. Why?
Many of these pro runners are not making money for their shoe companies, even if they are good.
Many of Jerry's runners are making money for the company. Look at Jerry's runners resumes.
Top runners in our sport survive because most come from upper-class families. Their schooling was likely funded either through large scholarships or their parent's money. The best runners are typically highly intelligent, so it would not surprise me if top runners have full rides once both athletic and academic scholarships are taken into account. They have no debt coming out of college, have a nice car (provided in full by their parents), and are usually good-looking.
Here is an easy and likely situation for a 22 year old 13:45 guys coming out of college. Let's say his college was paid for in-full except his room and board (500/month lets say). Let's say his parents paid for his room and board during college. He approaches his parents once graduation nears and asks if they would continue to pay him 500/month for the next year as he pursues his dreams. Once guy improves to 13:40 the following year, dad is totally down with another year of support. 6k/year comes in handy especially as this 13:40 guys is on a team with free room, travel, gear, shoes, free massage etc. Mr 13 40 has few expenses. Healthcare is not an issue as the average retirement age of a pro runner is 26 and you can stay on your parents insurance til then. Gas and food are only expenses and are definitely not over 500/month. Survival is not difficult if you come from the right family and are reasonably intelligent.
