I was surprised to see Trevor Dunbar was dropped by Nike. I'm a Mac Fleet fan but how is he still signed and Will Leer was good but not anymore. What does it take to keep a contract these days LOL.

Sam Chelanga was dropped as well.
And Nick Symmonds. FINALLY

He is EMBARRASSINGLY slow. Companies should be paying him NOT to wear his shoes now.
Why is anyone surprised that Dunbar was dropped? Has he done anything since college? If you want to keep your Nike sponsorship you need to either...
1. Be fast
2. Be good looking
Dunbar isn't either of these, so he was dropped by Nike. Mac Fleet on the other hand is a good looking guy with a solid presence on social media.....so he still has a contract.
Dunbar lost his Nike contract the day he started working with Brad Hudson. There is a long history going back to when Ritz was given an ultimatum. Leave Brad or lose the contract. Brad really has no deal with any shoe company. He's a nice guy but too scattered for corporate America.
Shaq Walker also out at brooks. Should have stayed in school, and got his degree.
Anybody have info. on Andrews and Adidas? I thought I saw mention of his contract being up at the end of 2017.
Who else is getting dropped in 2018? Lopez Lomong and Dan Huling likely on the chopping block. Nike usually does 1 or 3 year contracts.
How do people know that Mac Fleet hasn’t been dropped and that Shaq Walker was dropped?
Also, it seems really weird that athletes are posting on social media about getting dropped.

Andrews always shows up for championship races. He's made what, the last 3 or 4 championship teams, in addition to winning the US championship last year. I don't think adidas will have any problem renewing his contract if indeed it is up
Neely Spence Gracey hasn't done anything significant since her World Cross performance 4 or 5 years ago. Nothing on the track and 2:35 or so in the marathon. Unless she signed a 10 year deal she has to be on her last leg.
Well we can add Wheating to the list.
Emma Bates no longer with BAA.
How about Brie Felnagle?

You get paid to ware shoes if it helps to sell more shoes, running fast is only one way of achieving that

Huh? Were do you live that you don’t ware shoes when you run?
I don't understand how so many people seem to survive in the sport. I know for sure several top 10 US athletes in their events who do not make money, yet they're off at altitude camps, traveling everywhere, etc. So many of these young men/women play the part of professional runner. I see how some groups help find a job and they also get a "shoe deal" which includes gear and some travel monies, but the monies don't add from the outside. And talking about Bowerman or NOP, but OTC, NYNJ, Brooks Beasts? Do their coaches get paid and they receive money to run the club and cover their athletes expenses?
Zap Fitness is the only funding model which makes any sense and they're much more focused on the roads.

Well he's no Will Geoghegan, but good enough I guess.

There is more money in the sport than ever now. There are more financed clubs/teams than ever before.
Athletes in the 70'sand 80's never had the dollars available today but survived and ran well. You worked part time, you lived frugal, you figured it out.
Shoe money helps but it should not be the reason you run/race.
There is a reason so many of our runners today are soft, they never have had adversity in their lives.
Neely won 3 half marathons, placed 2nd in two USA Championships, and 3rd in another so I would hardly say that correlates to "hasn't done anything significant"
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Des Linden: "The entire sport" has changed since she first started running Boston.
Matt Choi was drinking beer halfway through the Boston Marathon
