Agreed. It always seems like its the underweight runners that have to deal with stress fractures. I don't think too many male runners try to be as thin as possible, but many just don't eat or do strength training enough.
When your body fat percentage drops too low that increases your chances of bone features.

I meant fracture, not feature autocorrect changed it. I believe if his weight was around 135 ibs he would be more successful in his career.
Idc what y'all say, she fast and she has a nice badonk. A winner all around if u ask me ;)

wrong. it's just that when men are anorexic, they are considered "fit" and there is not public outrage that they are not being pulled from the lineups.
Very impressed that she finished 5th at NYC and ran a sub 2:30. I'm also overweight according to the BMI scale, but still managed to beat the BQ time by 8 min. (I know I'm comparing apples and oranges here, since she beat the OTQ by 15 mins).
Still, I keep wondering how much faster she could run if she (and me) weighed less. She seems to blame her one-time lower weight on a stress fracture, but there does not seem to be a correlation between weight and stress fractures according to the below article that says:
"...Height, weight, BMI, percent body fat, ... and total eating disorder inventory score did not predict stress fracture occurrence when entered into the multivariate analysis...
"In conclusion, the results of our study and those of others indicate that young female runners with previous stress fractures, lower bone mass, and a history of irregular menstrual periods are at high risk for stress fracture and should be carefully monitored. Although the evidence is not definitive, high calcium intake should be encouraged."

Overall, I applaud her for what she has accomplished, but would still encourage her to try to lose that other 5 lbs to give her the best chance of making the 2020 Olympic Marathon Team
Natural doping known as CrossFit
After 1 year of consistent training (working too?) she competes in a close knit tactical major marathon. Dossena, a great story also pulls the pack through the first half and runs strong for most of the race, Kieffer 10 minutes ahead of previous PR stays in the mix at the back of the pack.
Last 10k of Kieffer's NYC she moves up to Dossena(Olympic track runner/world triathlete) Bruce and Taylor (Hoka NAE) and continues to close the gap only 3 seconds back of Kiplagat at races end. Allie worked hard on the buildup and had a great breakthrough this qualifies and confirms herself as professional sponsored runner.
Allie, Thank you!

This.
According to her Instagram, she's running the half in Doha. She appears to be working with an agent respecting sponsorships -- wearing a lot of Nike in her recent photos.

Sure, don't get in a hurry...makes sense, but then how do you fund your training in bad years or when you are injured? This is the key question. Outside of the former Communist bloc or Scandinavian countries where a few bad years does not mean you must quit the sport, how do you do it? Take out a loan?
When i see someone running that fast who doesn’t look like the prototypical runner, i can’t help but think: that cyclist runs pretty fast!
Chances are she could be a very elite cyclist or triathlete. She will never be a truly elite runner as much as we all wish that could happen. Very impressive though, no doubt. Great role model for the younger girls for sure.

Ridiculous. She’s at the end of a marathon.
Love her attitude. Right on the money.
Hard to be a pro triathlete/cyclist compared to being a pro runner though.... Look at these numbers! https://twitter.com/TStellingwerff/status/948279980563210241
Trust me, i understand that. I was in the Tour of Utah caravan this past summer and was reminded how cycling is such a different animal than running. One of the guys I coach put in 35,425 kilometers in 2017. The women don’t race as far as the men, though, so they don’t need quite the same volume. Allie could put on about 5-10lbs as a cyclist and be really really good. It’s not at all uncommon for top female cyclists to have a background in running.

This.
Yes get fit by training consistently wherever you end up that's the best shot for your biology.
I've trained with Africans and their parents are 5'7" 130 and being runners/lifestyle they're always going to be lean. My experience was trying to cut a few carbs but I must have not had enough protein and calories to make up...I got a bone scan and it had all of these stress reaction spots the doc basically pointed out a more defined area on tibia and 2 weeks later stress fracture.
I went back to eating for fuel and food groups also some useful supplement advice for stress fractures/athletes, the multiple hot spot stress reactions indicated my bone mineral matrix was out of whack I now take a complete multi Mineral as my supplement.

I was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt for months, but you are now officially my most hated.
Not because you said something about Ritz, but all you ever post is something you know nothing about.
Ritz weighed 112 when he graduated HS and ran the second-fastest HS 5k of all time (13:44). He weighed 112 when he ran the fastest 5k of all-time for a college freshman (13:27). He was 118 when he ran the fastest 5K of all-time for an American (12:56).
He is a tiny little man.

Either Doha paid for her accommodations, or she is sponsored by now.
But we still have not answered the most important question: when and where is she running her next marathon?
