Very positive article. I don't think I saw any link to this article on this site.

Didn’t read the article, but saying that weight has ‘nothing to do’ with running performance, especially at the professional level, is completely misleading.
Good stuff. Performance really is about being the best weight for *you*, not being the lowest weight possible.

Looks like she's down 20+ lbs since college.

And she seems happier now, and that has to help with her performance versus trying to get to a specific weight.

Dathan Ritzenhein needs to read this and he wouldn't be so injury prone.
This is great and all, but when and where is she running her next ‘thon?

Agreed. It always seems like its the underweight runners that have to deal with stress fractures. I don't think too many male runners try to be as thin as possible, but many just don't eat or do strength training enough.

Read Meb's book over the holidays and he talked about his ideal race weight. Said he got hurt before the 2008 Trials because he was the lowest weight he had ever been in his career. He thought the lower the weight would better but after that he changed his mind. He was five founds or so heavier when he won Boston.
Allie had an amazing, inspiring, run in NYC. Excited to see what's next for her! She might not be hitting a spring marathon. Some of the articles after NYC had her saying that she didn't feel like she was done with the track so maybe expect to see her on the start list for Stanford. Also is she sponsored yet???
I have heard Ryan Hall say almost the exact same thing, that when his weight was at the lowest of his career, he had his worst season.
Looks like she is considering Oiselle, although that would be a mistake. I think she would be a good fit for Sketchers. Running for NYAC and being around NY (assuming she doesn't move) could let her do some combo sponsors like Meb did.

It is impossible to make that assumption from just two pictures taken from different angles and in different attire.
A nobody comes out of nowhere to get 5th at NY= Doping.

I think the point Allie Keiffer is making is this: don't get in a hurry. Let the body slowly adapt to the physiological changes of both ageing/maturing as well as athletic training in order to maximize performance and health over the long term. She probably knew the 20lbs hurt her, but wasn't going to do all of them in her early 20s. And that wisdom is paying off now.
Look up Shalane Flanagan pictures from her Tar Heels days - not exactly the prototypical skinny runner, yet look at her career accomplishments.
*wasn't going to DROP all the weight

Unless something has changed, Sketchers/Oiselle ought to be open to a joint sponsorship since they only offer shoes/clothes, respectively. That's the deal Kara Goucher has been under for years, anyway.
I'm not the biggest Oiselle fan ever, but props to them for sponsoring lots of good athletes who wouldn't have sponsorship otherwise. So far they've been really gracious about essentially serving as a jumping board for runners who have moved on to bigger contracts (Kate Grace to Nike, Steph Bruce to Hoka). It's great for the sport. If Allie keeps improving as she is, she should be in the zone for major sponsorships in a couple years.
She's not... She is fitter but with increased muscle. I applaud her for the face palm to the body shamers.

A couple of old blog posts from Allie discussing weight. She actually addresses the issue of camera angles in race photos.
