Well of course they have never been good. The program is what, in it's third year?
I coach at a program that's only 3 years in and we have a couple sub 2:00 800m, 4:10 1500, 15:40 5k for men. Women 2:20-2:25 800m x 2 and another sub 5 for 1500m.
Not great, but a 5:15 men's mile is disasterous. That's a sub par middle school mile record.
5:15 is terrible, but it's also not their record. I just looked them up and their record is 5:00. Which isn't good, but they don't really do much indoor. Their school record in the 1500m is 4:14. I mean it's bad, but this is a school of only 600 students, and is mostly bible degrees, they don't seem to give scholarships, and they don't have much of a budget. The only have 22 people on their track teams, men and women combined. There entire track coaching staff consists of three people.
There are other four year colleges in the Northwest that are as bad. MSU-Northern is also terrible (also have a very new program, PLUS they are in Havre, MT, the middle of nowhere) and Providence (formerly Great Falls) is pretty bad, but they are better than those other two.
Also, I am now curious as to where you are at, since the only two colleges in Oregon that are less than three years old that I can think of are Multnomah and Rogue CC.
