I a, the exact opposite of what you insinuate, for now you have crossed the line, newbtard and I shall defend myself. You have just posted the most libelous, inflammatory, serious possible accusation and insult, trying to use witch hunt tactics. I am not a criminal or murderer or violence-doer, I am the highest of high, walking amongst you, serving you,
YOU are closer to the unabomber and all the scoundrels of history than I am to YOU. You have no understanding of ethics, social science or countless other topics. People like YOU, like criminals, pedophiles and terrorists, shouldn’t even be allowed on a computer much less a message board.
YOU: Infantile, incapable of a decent response or addressing any point. Lacking reading comprehension and education. Scared of intellectualism. If you’re living in the US or western world, which I assume to be the case by your command of vernacular English, I have this to say: you don’t deserve it. Your @$$ deserves to be in Soviet Russia, Nazi Germany, Military Junta run Argentina, where they burned books and literally mass executed, kidnapped, raped, tortured intellectuals and the life blood of society, the real do gooders.
“Actually, the gap between, say, Plato or Nietzsche and the average human is greater than the gap between that chimpanzee and the average human. The realm of the real spirit, the true artist, the saint, the philosopher, is rarely achieved.”
“The quays of sociopaths”
Again witch hunt tactics, inflammatory lies. Notice you contribute absolute jack sh1t nothing, trying to build a nonexistent consensus and generate hysteria just like all the fascist demagogues of history, you lowlife. Do you even know what sociopathy is? My posts are all about ethics and helping people. Man up and actually respond, or stfu and gtfo because you’re just running tricks you scoundrel.

They are kind of like tiny gold flakes, now. If we are to use the gold analogy, LetsRun was a gold rush town in the early 2000s where one could come and mine gold reasonably easily. Now it's like when the gold rush town has become a tourist attraction where people can spend time panning for gold as a fun "tourist-y" pastime, but all the serious speculators have left because the town has been mined to completion and all that's left are a few tiny flakes that take so long to pan for that the time spent is not worth the effort anymore.
100% agree.
Reading this board 2000-2004 taught me most of what I know about training. Now it is a sewer. No substantive discussion occurs here.
Johnsons should do the right thing and require registration.

There is still some "golden nuggets" to pick here, and not only when Canova steps in now and then. The problem is that of many, "cant see the forest because of the trees."

I’m sorry but this is just nonsense, the exact same criticism verbatim with the same words and lack of elaboration appears every time there is a thread about criticism of LRC by someone famous, say like Nick Symmonds. Your criticism is not only inaccurate but unproductive. Let’s start with the latter the. Proceed to the former. The problem is LRC doesn’t have a working search function. There is no way to amalgamate useful threads, hence progress is lost. One would have to have a master list of links to each thread, which would be time consuming, massive and require further categorization and formatting. There should be someone paid to do this and there should be money in it. Why blame LRC for a problem that exists everywhere else in life? Information overload, buildup and backlogs of information over time and lack of progress and lack of money and manpower? Everywhere else the same obstacles exist. In the coaching and institutional setting, daily life and obligations and constraints hamper a master database and encyclopedia. Commercial publications on running and nutrition are motivated by target marketing as opposed to scientific encyclopedic efforts.
Now for the inaccurate part.
There have been threads on every imaginable training topic, where have you been?
There have been multiple threads on Runner safety, weaponry, self defense, etc. for single women, for trails versus wild animals and loose dogs, etc.
There have been threads about weather conditions and climates, training locations, footwear.
There have been threads on training philosophies and systems, cross training, multi sport anecdotes,
Weight lifting, cycles,
Nutrition, nutritional styles, caloric intake,
Posted training logs of famous athletes,
Social media of famous athletes pertaining to training,
Video documentaries of lifestyle, training, racing,
I could go on and on and on for days. Runnerspace and flotrack try to corner the market on video content but the substantive conversation doesn’t exist there like it has here for many years.
Let’s be productive and gather a master directory of these resources and discussions instead of being lazy, nihilistic and reductionist in inaccurate complaints!

Absolutely. Most of the pro team coaches and pro runners are obsessed with this site, to the point where one of them has to make a New Year's resolution to stop coming here! How long do you think that will last? LOL!!! (maniacal)
This is because (if you have ever met Kevin or Keith), they are a class act, 100%. Saying they will stay away from places like this message board is good, I think. I don't have a dog in the fight, but if I did I would not come in here, ever.
These guys have created an atmosphere where grassroot runners can develop with little or no stress of where their next meal is coming from. Desiree Linden was no big shot out of college and they opened their doors, worked with her, and look what has developed. I applaud this move.
That is one way to live in a bubble. I didn't even know they still existed.

I wish we could get rid of the anonymity. I also think that anyone who accuses anyone of doping who has never failed a drug test should be exposed and banned.
This is such a great resource with a huge flaw.

I was told by a parent of an American Record Holder (about three years ago) that his child reads the board and has learned to "laugh off" the false drug accusations.
This individual knew that if the accusers were face to face they wouldn't have the guts to say what they type in anonymously.

maybe at one point they were obsessed, but i think after awhile, they realize "why waste my time?"
maybe you and I will do the same thing. my goal for 2018 was once every 2 weeks, if not longer.
life is short and fleeting, don't blink or you may miss it.
too much bias as certain posters get special privileges to spam the boards for hits then within minutes, their posts are deleted, which the owners don't mind.
unless it goes mandatory registration, it'll be out of my life as well, hopefully for good. too many trolls on one forum.
i know, i don't matter and no one will miss me. my goal has now changed. i'm outta here.
regardless, good call Kevin and Keith, this is a waste of time.

Seriously? The shills are out in force this morning, trying to push some vague agenda, who knows what, First they resuscitate some old Chris Solinsky/Tegenkamp thread. “Wow, what a prediction fail” except that whole thread was based on a false premise. Those dudes were not fat nor ever had been. Maybe, MAYBE Solinsky had a relatively big frame the fall back in High school after lifting fertilizer bags all summer. Morons had never seen these guys in person. Yeah Bekele has big thighs too, big whoop.
Then “Runn” makes some ( well meaning, maybe?) poorly reasoned posts. Read the nonsense you are writing. What you propose is clearly overboard, almost witch hunt in the opposite direction. Never failed a drug test? Do you know anything about the news and history of doping in endurance sports?
Then you name drop as if we should be impressed. Wow, you met an athlete’s parents! This thread is partly about social media and unless you have your head in the sand or are a liar, you’ll know that everyone and their mother are on Facebook. Peoples’ parents are shamelessly and excessively on it. Social media as far as athletes go is a sheepish, circle jerking echo chamber. Social media also has always been a shameless Godless compromising immoral popularity contest with people collecting as many friends as they can. With almost zero people saying a da** word about it all these years...
Parents are a complicit part of this. Many Parents of famous athletes are omnipresent on social media, at sporting events, etc. Wow! You know one of these athletes, met them and their parents, are friends with them on social media. I am not impressed.
I am astounded at this age of insecure people, banding together in mediocrity. I will be impressed and praise when people do good things for goodness sake, when people will make expressions out of instinct and not wait until it’s safe. Not wait to do something that has been done before. Not constrain one’s actions to an already safe and established category.
What is the essence of running? Dreams, desire, strength, heroism, heroic deeds. These are part of the essence of running. Make your language, your expression, your reasoning HEROIC! Make your social media original and heroic. Make it great, magnificent, genius! Make everything heroic like your running. Why am I calling you all out? You are the hope. You are the weak link. In insecurity, apathy and echo chambers, the repercussions of corruptions and evil forces spread unabated. YOU have a part to play! And running MAKES YOU special, in this PART.
Frickin’ loonies like this guy are the reason why this board has (and deserves) its bad reputation with Hanson and every other decent person in the sport.
Nobody is even reading through these insane essays you’re posting, buddy.
The hansons are forgetting they are in a fringe sport where only the top handful of athletes in the world across all events get news coverage. Sites like this are the only ones filling in the gaps in coverage to the next level of world class runners. Cesspool in the forums or not, it is also the only discussion of them occurring. Their brand would he worth much less if this site disappeared.
It’s not a waste of time, you’re not even making an effort, expecting everything to be served to you on a silver platter.
You are seriously hating on regulars like Jamin, stick with e harmony, the Jeff, John Utah, island, rejectrunner, and countless others? These people at least have some accountability and honesty. They are expressing their sincerely held beliefs and life struggles. They are not doing anything wrong.
As you speak there are already racists and antisemites on here. And to yourself with your lazy ad hoc name actually represent, symbolically if not literally, the real scourge which would be people with no accountability making quick one line replies. These people contribute nothing and by their unoriginal lazy names and language, are surmisably uncivilized.
Good threads come and go. If they are not stickies or bumped, they disappear into the past. That is just the design architecture. Like I said, why don’t you complainers save the links and compile them, contribute? Instead you scapegoat out of laziness and believe the grass is greener (social media, coaching groups, runnerspace, Strava, flotrack, Runner’s world). It isn’t. With the exception of some video and journalistic content, I can vouch 100% that the sum of knowledge in those locations isn’t even 10% of the sum of knowledge on these forums for the past 17 years.
No knowledge can be maintained without a system. Surely you adhere to this principle in your workplace and you had adhered to it in school, with citations and resumes and what not. How is it different here? It is no different on social media either, but you mistake comfort and platitudes for “good” and dare I say, the false confidence of knowledge, excellence and progress. Like I said in a previous post, the breadth of running knowledge and topics discussed on these forums is absolutely unmatched. Absolutely provable until ignorant lazy comments again drive knowledge into obscurity. See? You contribute to what you criticize. I am doing you a favor and already doing the thinking for you. Why? ❤️ ?♀️ ?
I’m a loonie for criticising, because I care, social media? Isn’t that consistent with the Hansons’ values?
I’m a loonie for advocating excellence? And proposing that excellence in interrelated realms bolster each other? Everything I say is based on widely accepted principles in many fields that do good for our society: business, valuation, ethics, philosophy, religion, social sciences, humanities,
Is that who you are? Populist who conflates intellectual competence and effort with degenerate, abnormal lunacy? You are in a bad position if true.
What is insane about it? Your brain can’t handle being aware of more than one thing at once? You can’t cope with the unfamiliar?
Everything I say is orthodox and in compliance with all the values of the sport, everything you think I am at odds with and even those realms beyond running as well.
Those who hate on me incorrectly and unfair,y and those standing by who won’t defend, this is a shame. You fools hold to relative truth and miss the eternal. Not one steps up and constructively responds to me, the haters only hurl vague insults. You, are responsible for the ills you all cry about, whatever side you are on, by acting in this manner. A genius and saint comes forward, countless times, to teach and help show the way, to give true answers, and this is what happens. Your ignorance, ills, infighting are perpetuated by yourselves. You have betrayed the gift in this manner. Ungrateful Hypocrites.

I don't think anyone dislikes LETSRUN. It is a great site. People dislike the message boards because of their negativity. My only surprise is that Hanson or anyone else that is involved in the sport would still be on the boards. I guarantee that Salazar or Shumacher or Mahon or Coogan or anyone else at those levels have been on these boards in years.
Steve Spurrier once said that listening to sports talk radio kills brain cells and is a distraction to coaching. Slamming a coach for not partaking in this behavior is silliness. Why would they?
