The movie was horrible. The negative reviews on Amazon sum up what was wrong with the movie -- basically, awkward and juvenile -- painfully so.

In general, the reviews for this movie were reasonable.

And as much as it probably pains you, even a lot of the negative views of it commented on how they liked Pappas in her role.

Lol this was honestly one of the worst movies I have ever seen. And I went in sincerely wanting to like it and to support Pappas. But I could not get over the cliched, cutesy script and the horrible acting. I get that her character was supposed to come off as “awkward” but she seemed more like an arrested-development mentally disabled child instead of a grown woman with some social hangups.

PTA, I love your work, but you are very wrong here.

A decent movie ruined by awful casting and acting by Papa’s love interest. They have no chemistry and he’s a creepy guy.

Yeah and I found the screenplay really cliched and contrived. Not an ounce of good dialogue.

I know this thread is going to turn into one of people crapping on Alexi, so i’d just like to say in advance that I actually don’t have a problem at all with her as a person and that her willingness to pursue both running and filmmaking is admirable. But it’s the quality of film work and writing is pretty poor.

Guess most on here are expecting Citizen Kane.

To be fair, judging by the amount of adulation and hero-worship she gets from the track community, one could be forgiven for expecting an Oregon Wells-level talent and then being disappointed when it’s not there.

Thought it was rather enjoyable as well. I really liked her character, odd as she was. The reality is that's what most runners are like. You're all socially awkward people, that's why you run so much. Just embrace it.

The OP is multi-posting to try to get Pappas haters to immediately trash the film on IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, and Amazon.com. The film has okay ratings on IMDB of low 7. Then the trolls starting slamming Pappas and the score dropped below 6. So many scores of 1/10 by the trolls managed to drop the score. IMDB trolls know that game.

On IMDB there are six actual reviews. But there are 233 ratings, so 227 people simply posted a rating and nothing more--trolls.

Maybe not Citizen Kane but something better than a 9th grade English project

I just watched the movie on Amazon for $4.99. I was definitely motivated to check it out after the PTA shoutout on Bill Simmons' podcast. I liked the film. It's charming, and Alexi Pappas is good in it, playing a doe-eyed, innocent, running-obsessed nerd. It's obviously a small film, so I was willing to overlook some minor flaws here and there. I enjoyed seeing the running community of Eugene, a place I have always wanted to visit. The filmmakers seemed very interested in showing all the details of that world, with a roaming, semi-documentary style. I thought the film had a calm and steady point of view.
