Today I encountered someone with some serious road rage how do you handle it

Today, as I was going to work, the driver of the truck behind me, started blowing his horn. He then flew past me, only to slow down to a crawl on the interstate, daring me to challenge him. I could not see the people to well, as their windows were tinted. So I played it safe and got off at the next exit. The passenger rolled down the window, and basically called me a puss*. How would you handle this?

Accept the challenge but on your terms, a 5km foot race.

Unless you're law enforcement on duty, or it's a Steven Seagal movie. He might have a gun,and you won't. You don't know his mind. You also could find yourself in trouble, for participating in road rage. It's not like your fighting in a bar, your behind a wheel of a car, and can kill others.

You done the right thing. Not worth getting shot or run off the road by some random @sshole.

Now have a quick think about how about how it takes a bigger man to walk away, give yourself a pat on the back, then put it out of your mind don’t waste any more time on it, life is too short.

I drive for a living and probably deal with this behavior a lot more than most, you did the right thing. Always seek to de-escalate a road rage situation, preferably by removing yourself from the picture.

You had an ideal situation to read his license plate and can it in. That's what your cell phone (the greatest crime fighting tool in history) is for.

And that brings the question... was the OP driving safely to begin with? One can certainly drive too slow on the interstate, and thus actually be causing an unsafe situation. The resultant 'road rager' getting in front of you and driving very slowly is obviously dangerous as well.

I believe that a good rule of thumb is, when on the interstate or highway, +/- 5mph in relation to the 'speed limit' should be adhered to. If the speed limit is 70, no slower than 65, and 75 is gonna get you where you need to be.

Yes, I was driving safely. We were at the light before the interstate on ramp. I singled to get over, but obviously I didn't do it fast enough for him. So he proceeded to fly past me on to the interstate. I let him go, but that wasn't enough for him, he proceeded to try to try to get me to, play cat and mouse with him. It could have because a very dangerous situation, as his car were slowing down on the interstate to 15 miles per hour. When I went by on the exit, he flashed all types of nasty signs at me. He was mad, that I would not engage with with him.

I've got a strong feeling that there is another side to the story. I have an even stronger feeling that his brief descriptive synopsis of you is definitely correct.

Sounds like you did the right thing. The only thing I would have added, is a flick of the tongue when exiting... that would just add insult to the already unhinged douche. It pisses them off, and makes you smile. Win/win for you.

I would have gotten off at the next exit and found you. The end result would not have permitted you the ability to post on this board or any board.

I would say the fact that he got off and that the guy was going 15 miles an hour, leads me to believe his story!!. Some people are just CRAZY!! Maybe the guy lost his wife, or needs to be on medication, just saying.

I was driving in the hood and the car next to me rolled down their window and did the finger gun thing where they shoot

with their thumb. It was surprisingly intimidating and is now my go to move when facing people with road rage. You can learn a lot in the ghetto

Just call 911 and report them as a drunk driver. They probably had drugs in the car so any type of stop for them would result in some jail time.

You shouldn't drive slow in the left lane.

Joking aside, do your best to avoid a confrontation. Take a pic of the plates, and call 911. Some people are crazy, jacked up on meth, spice, etc. or just plain looking for trouble. Stay in your vehicle, drive evasively and if you can drive to a police station, highway patrol office, or similar.

Unless something has actually happened (either an actual collision or an actual fight or perhaps brandishing of a firearm) the police will do absolutely nothing if you call it in. They can’t really do anything. Waste of time. Just move on with life.
