You may have a nice condo, or a 2017 car, or whatever, but if you don't get paid this week, you are going to be homeless. Be realistic, you may make 70 or 100k a year, but if it's all over tomorrow. You are going to have big problems. You don't even have a3 day emergency fund saved. Some of you might have an excuses, others have none.
How many of you for whatever reason are at a point in your if you don't get paid this week you are homeless

Not me.
By the way you didn’t actually ask a question. -
I wouldn't be homeless, but it would be tough for a bit. No savings, no excuses. Decent job security though--there's one other person at my company who does what I do, and she does it worse, slower, and for more money (because she's been there longer). If they let her go I could easily do her job and mine; if they let me go they would need to hire 1-2 people to take my place. So until they lay her off I think I'm safe.

I heard a stat that said that 50% of people are living paycheck to paycheck. Now keep in mind, many of those people probably have 'assets' which they are currently paying off (vehicle or other leases, loans, house mortgage) plus perhaps already paid off assets. it's not like they all have absolutely nothing. They just have to make sure they can pay everything/all expenses off.

INCORRECT! There are no legitimate excuses. -
This is insane.
We have upper middle class income and live as lower middle class. We could live for 5 years if we both lost our jobs. -
I am set for life.

I’ll ask my wife.
Will get back to you.
When Dad died he left a little money that we’ve not touched and it is in savings now.
Would have been nice if he’d not drank too much and wasted so much money.
But if No paycheck, house would quickly go on market. We’d move in with family. -
What happens if you had a large amount of money saved up and then you went through a child custody/divorce litigation? Or, you were in the wrong place at the wrong time and had to fight an unjust murder charge? Or someone swindled all your savings can a Ponzi scheme?middle class/ upperclass people do have excuses.

What an odd topic for a thread. What kind of deranged mind thinks up stuff like this?

That happened a while ago for you. You have had time to save up some cash and downsize in housing.

Always diversify. NEVER put all your cash into what could turn out to be a ponzi scheme, idiot.

NO. There are no excuses for being an idiot. Quit making them. -

How do you diversify to protect against fighting an unjust murder charge? -
How is a murder rap a waste of money and what happened if you went through that divorce 6 month's ago??

Ask any bankruptcy attorney about this. Medical expenses have sent lots of middle-class families into bankruptcy. -

I was in the same boat as you, but had solid savings and my employer needed 2-3 people to fill my job. I did my work faster and better, that was my fallback. Guess what? Everyone liked me, except one grumpy, divorced, frustrated man - my boss. I was let go, with severance, and they hired 3 people to take my job. All is well, as I found another job and double dipped for a while. Highest earning year ever, even with a month off on thier dime.
Just a warning to you. -
Not me.
I make around $400k per year. I live in a house that is painted white, rent free.
My job allows me to play golf every few days on golf courses that I own.
I just got a big tax cut, even though I don't pay any taxes.
I brought "Merry Christmas" back.
You're welcome. -

Hmm, I could go 5+ years till my I "needed" my next paycheck. It actually kills my drive to do my job to the best of my abilities. I think the fear of being homeless is a good thing.
