I was receiving Runners World way back when it was Distance Running News and at some point (I think it was in late 60's or early 70's) I bought a "lifetime subscription. Well now it has expired. I've tried contacting RW with no reply. Has anyone else has this problem? Any suggestions?

Idk but they ran a story about their lifetime subscriptions last year.

Did you die recently? That's probably why your subscription expired. -
You're not missing anything to be honest.
-
How did you find out it expired? A renewal notice? A letter telling you so? Outliving a lifetime subscription does seem like an accomplishment.

Big companies have problems with their accounting systems. I would call, write, email, and text message them until they answer you.
But the last issue I received was all advertising anyway so I doubt you are missing much. -
I when I tried to change my address I was told that my subscription had expired. I'm not sure of the exact date of my death. I was receiving three (3) copies one (1) from each of my coaching positions and the other my "lifetime" subscription. I give my extra copies to runners that I coach when I come across something that pertains to them (motivation, injuries, travel, etc). I totally agree that RW is not what it used to be, but then again neither am I.

Runner's World died when Rodale Press bought it.

I've been wondering about the lifetime subscription.
When I was 12 I wanted one for $75.00, my mother said I wouldn't be a runner long enough for it to pay off.
46 years later ...
My condolences on your untimely and unknown death. -
I have a lifetime subscription [since October 1975] and I have had no problems even though I have moved several times. I would suggest that you contact the subscription department of RW and quote them the info on the mailing address of your "lifetime" subscription. It should be easy to clear up.
On another note: I thought that last month's edition of RW was the worst ever. It's not even a runner's magazine anymore. It's a "wanna-be", "poser", "life-style image", "look at me I'm a hobby jogger" magazine. -

It's morphed into an everyday fitness mag for women.

Well, given the "new" editor-in-chief is a woman and spent 6 years as the editor-in-chief at Fitness magazine, this make sense. -

Be a hater all you want, but I've been following the "double your endurance" program in the mag for a bit now, and it's already working. I just ran a half in 1:06, and my best 10k before that was 31:20. Continuing the program, I expect to run 2:12 for the marathon by spring. -

Maria Rodale is a nut-job, and Rodale publications have become vehicles of dubious "health" advice and pushers of pseudo-scientific info on food and nutrition. -
I have noticed it going downhill for a while, but a lot in the last few months or so. There was an article on things that runners should buy - and it included a running themed bracelet. That combined with the article on how to do your makeup for a race just sent me over the edge. I won't renew my subscription.
I am still upset that Running Times no longer exists. Is the audience for that type of magazine really that low? It had a great combo of pro running news and training advice. -
I don't know what you guys are complaining about. Look at this great article posted yesterday!
