22k in 1:05:06. What is that 1:13 mid pace?

This is awful. They have Bekele running with the runners in the 10k race. I just hope he got a decent appearance fee for his troubles. For the elites without a motorcycle escort, it must be terrible.
Bekele looks like he is absolutely flying but I don't think his time will be great.

They are saying he’s on pace for 1:13:45
Feed cut out and didn't get the finish time. I'm assuming 1:13 mid?
Yea, it was about 1:13.45, which is a minute off the world best this year run en route at the Tokyo marathon.
All this talk about the world record was simply press hype. That course is not a world record course. It has 4 U-turns and the elite 25k runners have to run with the 10k runners towards the end. Nobody is setting a world record in those conditions.
Rupp's last 25km at Chicago was faster.
Bekele close to being washed up...

The race & coverage wasn’t good and I agree, there’s no way anyone could get a world record on the course... clearly not a serious attempt with the 10k runners on the course. However, good to see that he’s still in decent shape.

You are looking in the mirror...and you were washed up a long time ago.

No & No
When Rupp runs 2:04 then I’ll give him a little more respect but he’s no Bekele. Unfortunately, KB has had a few crappy years but there’s no doubting his ability when he’s in shape.
I am offended that there even is a 25k world record. IAAF needs to fix this.
Nice to see him run wrote:

Yes, in decent shape and healthy. Probably a good payday, rust buster after Berlin, and tune up for spring marathon. With the layout of the course and the 10k runners as obstacles, sub-1:13 is probably the best anyone could do on that course.
Why was this billed as a WR attempt when Bekele himself said he was aiming for 1:12?
Rupp is a 1:11 guy.
Bekele REALLY needs to stop saying he's going for the WR. He says that before like every race, and doesn't even finish most of them. STOP SAYING YOU'RE GOING FOR THE WR!!!

To be fair, I interpret his pre-race interview as him saying in ideal conditions the WR was possible...but then he went on to say he was more likely to target 1:12 (above wr)

Man, I hope you're only about 12 years old. I laughed out loud when I read this comment. Surely, you're just joking, right? Right?

Did he look in shape this race? There’s been a couple times recently where he’s looked heavy and not in best shape

Here is a better view of washed up.

You're turning into a bright white snowflake Wigins. Seapeople, yards, feet, inches, visagoths, mongols, miles, and moonlandings. And the list is growing by the day. Soon you'll need a safespace in a Trump-free hotel.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
