All who have posted - was your 200 time from blocks, or legit standing start?
Because if not it is not legit.
Thanks.
Standing start in a 200 where everyone around me was starting out of blocks. Never ran enough sprints to make learning blocks worthwhile

200m: actual fastest time is a 24flat towards the end of a workout in practice. Could beat some low 11 100m guys in block starts on my team. Coach said he thought I could run 22.8 but I think more like 23.2-23.5 was realistic
23.2, mid-d runner beating 11 flat, 100m guys in block starts.
Ye... that never happened...
I said low 11, not 11 flat. big difference between 11.3 and 11.0 bud.

Appreciate your honesty. But how many on here are being honest? How many using flying start, or have a friendly coach hand timing? You know your coach will ALWAYS round down liberally, especially for sprints.
I never ran a 200m race when I was fit, but clarified that my 24 flat was at the end of a workout. I don't think many people would use a flying start 200m in a workout at practice, so although many of these might be hand timed, I doubt many are flying starts.
24.4 for an indoor 200m flat track, FAT when I was a 2:02 runner, makes sense that I was probably in sub 24 FAT shape when I was in 1:52 shape a year later.

...and dat still never happened.
My 23.46 was in a race. Legit standing start. It was handtimed though so maybe add a few tenths. Coach let me run it one time in a early season tri-meet. I ran the 400m race in 50.xx, waited a few minutes and until the track was clear, ran a 39.xx 300m, then hopped in the 200m race and clocked my 23.46 before finishing up the day with a 12.xx 100m. Good speed workout. I would like to think I could break 23 with a few more shots at it.

lol, it did. Pretty regularly, too. I wouldn't beat our 10.7 guy or our 14.XX 110 hurdler, but I'd be equal with or beat all of our 11.3-11.9 guys when ever I'd join them for block starts so I could get strides in. I don't think it was indicitive of much as I probably wouldn't have broken 11.7 in an actual 100m race, but I was definitely a speed based 800m runner who trained like a miler for most of the year, except for when I was peaking. It wasn't uncommon to click off rolling start 100m strides in 11.5-12.0 after easy runs. Would I beat the 11.3-11.5 guys in races? Hell no. But I beat them in practice block starts.
24.5 & 1:54.6 two years ago
Remarkably, this summer I came back from a three month hiatus with 0 endurance/difficulties running 40 minutes at 7:00 pace but within a few weeks was in
25.0/1:54.9 shape and also ran a very controlled 52.8 in training.
My drop off from all out 200m speed to 400/800m pace seems to be relatively moderate but on the other hand I haven't yet managed to piece together a 1500 that would be as good as my times over the shorter distances.. I can barely break 4 if I spend half a year preparing for it..

Trained as a 5k runner but ran 2:02 low off a 70 mile week and then ran 25.4 a couple weeks later.
26 mid 200
2:10 ish 800
5:00 ish mile
18 low 5k
On about 15mpw training
24.97 FAT with standing start.

It must be a shame you believe everything is so black and white. I told the OP what happened. Gave background. That's it.
Never a middle distance guy.....
Waaaaay back in the mid 90s!....
26.2? With a running start!
:56 in a relay!
2:04 indoor relay....2:06 open
4:27
9:32
Alan
When I ran 1:57 I ran a hand-timed 11.1 a couple weeks after. Don't know for 200. I'd imagine a pretty decent time.
23.65
1:55.70
200m 23 flat or just barely broke 23 in HS. Hand timed. Never ran again after HS. College girls run this fast or faster.
400m 48 flat relay Hand timed. Open I broke 49. FAT 48.something. Mostly did relays though... Amazing watching a 45-46 400m runner fly by you on the curve ( I was generally 1st or 2nd leg when they needed the 800m guy to help). Basically they are going my 200m pace. World class women can sniff this.
800m 1.49.1 FAT (At least I could beat the world class women)
1500m 3:48 FAT (ditto)
Best road mile 4:06
In this mix, I am the dfl fat man but I will include me Best 800 ever: 2:30 in HS This was in 1992 Best recent 200: 30.28 hand timed on cellphone ( phone in hand) from lane 5 Best recent 800: 2:45 on asphalt trail I won't beat anyone but I don't care Lol At 43, the fact that I even try that speed is fine by me
