She lapped the field at about the 1700m mark, and then lapped the field again on the last lap.

She opens up with a 3000m in early January. Can't she run sub 9:04 and also get that record?
I was sure that she was in sub 9 shape a couple of months ago
It looks like she was going for a sub 9
She was on 8:51 pace at 1k, 8:56 pace at 2 k and was still on sub 9 pace at 2400m. She lost it all in the last 600m.
bump
Is she still planning on going under 15:55 on Saturday?
I assume so, but not sure. The event is listed on Flotrack for live streaming for subscribers.
It appears there is only one 5K heat, so hopefully they don't load the track up with a bunch of girls running 18:00 - 20:00, forcing KT to weave around them constantly and run a lot in lane 2.
15:47.21
I'm predicting 15:51.46, but it really depends on how crowded her heat is. There should probably not be any more than 8-10 other runners on the track, all capable of at least sub 18's. Last thing she wants to do is run the final K completely in lane 2.
Would they ask the other runners to move to the 2nd lane when they are about to be lapped? We see runners do this all the time, but I think it is out of courtesy, and not a directive.
Is this what you did when you had your high school phenom?
The field is an embarrassment. Why doesn't she run in a quality race with NJ/NY/MA HS runners? At least they could get her through 3,000. The fastest FL and NXN VA/NC girls are running other events. Is it a fast track?

She did the same thing in cross country, ran a bunch of lower level meets all season, instead of competing at the top competitions.

bruh
Obviously, she can run fast on her own but you would think some of the mid Atlantic state runners who don't see a lot of competition would put on their spikes and race. Some of the 5,000 girls are doubled in the mile so the 5 will be part of a training day. There aren't many sub 5, sub 11 distance runners in VA but they should be in the field. Instead there is a mile, 1,600, 2mile, 3,200. Why? Can you imagine sitting through this meet!
why are people talking about this time? we all know the american high school phenomens (overtrained girl) peak in high school
She will probably use lapped runners as momentum and people to focus on passing, similar to what Brie did last year.
15:39
with 9:04 3k, she should be well under 16.
I wouldn't pay Flotrack to watch Jesus run a 5k....

But would you pay if he did it while running on water???

It’s our guilty pleasure. We know it’s unhealthy to fixate so much on a phenom who has the odds stacked against her but we just enjoy doing it too much.
...9:54 at 3200...

#4 time in the world right now. Not bad kid.
