He's lining up and running it. He's a former 800m champion. He's running without proper prep and a certain disrespect for the distance. It's actually very interesting. I say 3:25.

Yes, if he ran 1:24 half and had stayed healthy he had shot at breaking 3:00.
Warm humid day in Hawaii he should be happy to run under 3:20.
Will Brooks give him any incentive dollars for "Running Happy"?
Will he be taking selfies during run?
Will he stop, walk, hand out RunGum to hobby joggers?
Will he run the last 800 of the 'thon on "Pure Hate"? And all this be a violation of his Brooks "Run Happy" contract?
Expect Great Things, maybe?

Symmonds- talented , untrained for the marathon, 2:45 best and 3:10 worst.... so 2:49:50 I'd say
Wrong. Faster. Maybe? wrote:
I've run 3:25 on an average of 30mpw for a debut marathon...and no one would confuse me with a world class athlete. It's gotta be faster than that unless humidity or something destroys him.
What was your background before then? If you had never ran competitively and never run over 30 mpw in YOUR LIFE you are an extremely talented marathoner.
Would anyone be surprised if Cam Levins ran 30 mpw for 4 months leading up to his debut marathon and ran 2:15-2:20? No, he had a massive base behind him.
Just thinking about this on my morning run. 3:30
I'm not a Symmonds fan but hope he has the guts to finish no matter the time even if he has to walk it in.

A 21 hour finish at Mt Rainier transfers by my formula to roughly 8 hours for a marathon. Maybe 6:30 if he goes light and doesn't rope up too early.
Thread Win!
3:27:30.

I forces a blazing last 200, damn the overall time.
he will hit the wall before mile 20
He was looking cute and buff when I saw him at the expo, and he winked at me! I predict he finishes with a smile and breaks a few hearts along the way.

I don't see why anyone would care what he does in this race, since he didn't take the prep even remotely seriously. Not fun to follow someone's training if they're not even trying. He should have taken some time away from the sport, then come back refreshed, and people would have been intrigued since he came back from a time away. This is like Tortorella taking the VAN job shortly immediately after things ended badly with NYR -- then VAN turned into a disaster in part because he didn't have time away to reflect, take stock, and come back improved. Things going much better with CLB it would appear.
It's fun to follow Colin McCourt because he treated the 5K with respect this past year, and I am sure will do the same this year in the marathon.
I don’t like NS, but he doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone.
race started
I've got for Nick, for 10kg, 15k, 21k = 43:31 1:05:09 1:31:17
So holding steady right at 7-flat pace.
1:47:01 at 25kg - he sped up.
wow, 2:07:30 at 30km, definitely going for a negative split and sub-3

Wait till the bear jumps on his back . . .
slowed down from 25k to 30k. 20:29 last 5k. ~6:46 avg so far, but a long way to go
