Have any of you considered Tuohy’s decision not to race in San Diego is not about you, it’s what she thinks is best for her. Get over it.

I think it’s less that and more that she doesn’t have the opportunity or possibility of doing both because of overlapping races.
It's not like she turned down a race that was a few miles away. Traveling twice back-and-forth across the country in and of itself is a disqualifying situation for an athlete.
And as I predicted, just 24 hours ago, every know-nothing little douchebagel on Let's Run is now bashing a 16 year old girl, who has nothing to prove to anyone, would have to travel 3000 miles and miss most of another week of school, has just raced nine straight weeks, and starts her indoor season in about three weeks for "ducking" a race she'd have won by 10-15 seconds over the nations clear #2 female high schooler.
I'm disgusted to share these boards with you people.

Where did you see someone bashing her? Did you actually bother to read the thread ?
You’re an idiot.

NXN is a joke. 90% of top finishers were individuals. Maybe Tuohy would rather run in San Diego but bullied or peer pressured by her high school team. This is how scheming Nike is. How many studs are brow beat into doing NXN regionals?
If truly a national champs, why can't you wear Saucony?
NXN is a joke? Ok, that's a troll.
Troutner and Hasty are #1 and #2 in the nation and they are not going to FL
Tuohy is #1 and Chmiel is probably #3 (she does have a 9:18 PB). Neither are going to FL
Troutner and Hasty are #1 and #2 in the nation because of what? everyone thought Hasty was number one? he ran two races vs HS competition this year and lost one being out kicked, supposedly the 2nd coming of Drew Hunter lol. hes not in better shape then he was last year in my opinion, the number one runner will be at FL

Coulda, woulda, shoulda. We'll never know now.
Pretty sure Lane has raced the last nine weeks too.

Hasty ran 10 seconds faster despite wasting a lot of energy trading surges the final mile. Whatever else, he was in better shape this year. Troutner tied Clinger's course record, and Clinger was the best runner in cross last year. Troutner will likely go down as the defacto #1 this year.

You can wear whatever brand you choose. Let's not let facts get in the way of a good argument.
Footlocker has invited the top 40 runners in the country to attend the Footlocker National Championship.
They are doing the right thing.
It would not be right to invite runners who didn't qualify to be there.

Seriously? There is so much wrong here.
A. NXN definitely is not a joke. Especially for the boys. NXN was just as much a race for the individual crown as it was for team crown - Hasty, Mwaura, Troutner, Kilrea, Horter - these are the studs, and they went to NXN. Just because the individuals dominated doesn't make NXN a joke. If anything it makes it better - it makes it the most comprehensive nationals meet - both individual and team-wise. Individuals and teams are inseparable in cross country. NXN allows for both while Footlocker limits.
B. Bullied? Are you for real? Tuohy's team didn't even qualify for NXN, and in a region as deep as NY they had no shot to begin with. To cry wolf and say she was bullied into it is utterly ridiculous. And scheming? Yes, Nike is trying to sell their brand. But so is Footlocker. This whole argument is absolutely asinine.
C. You definitely can wear Saucony. Take a look at the pictures and you'll see plenty of kids wearing Saucony, New Balance, you name it. And before you start spewing about the uniforms, let me point out that Footlocker finalists are required to wear uniforms from whatever brand is sponsoring it that year. Just like NXN.

Do you see anyone else throwing down a 14:36 5K at regions? Has anyone else run a 4:01 full mile? No. If you ask me, Hasty is still the better runner, though Troutner was smarter on race day. Even El Guerrouj got beat. Mo Farah got beat. Pre got beat. Just because he lost doesn't mean he's not the best. (Also mark my words, Hasty is going sub-4 during indoors.) Bottom line is Troutner and Hasty are #1 and #2 in the nation because they placed first and second at NXN against the best individual field in the nation this year.
The race for the boy's individual national title was at NXN this year. Period. I don't see how you can say the nation's #1 guy will be at Footlocker when the number one ranked guy going into Footlocker this year (Kilrea) got 5th at NXN.
While I won't say one way or another about Tuohy being invited to Footlocker, I will say that I don't understand why you all are so stuck in the past. It's not a meet's history or brand or even qualifying procedure that makes a race the better nationals. It's the runners, end of story. This year the best runners were at NXN. All this crap about Footlocker being minimal and historical and individual doesn't mean anything if it fails to draw the actual best of the best which is what NXN pretty much did this year. Get over it. If you ask me, Footlocker is dying, and they need to be the ones to change before that happens. NXN is establishing itself as the best nationals race, and I don't think that's a bad thing.
FL people say no Golden Ticket was offered to Tuohy
http://www.dyestat.com/gprofile.php?mgroup_id=44531&do=news&news_id=503464
I had a feeling this was fake news, probably this was a misinterpretation by some of the media. FL probably did encourage her to run FL in place of NXN and not with a "golden ticket". The media got mixed up and the story spread. Love FL and there no shortcuts or no back doors way of doing things. This in opposition to the girl who got second at NXN that didn't qualify individually or on a team but rather through an at-large selection. That and last years magical 6th girl runner getting in from the Southwest because apparently everyone deserve to be on the line for a National championship.....

Yawn, more media moralizing: "Do The Right Thing", whatever.

FL reached out to Tuohy to see if she'd accept an offer IF they made it. She said she wouldn't, so they never made the offer. So, technically they are correct in saying that they made no actual "golden ticket" offer, but you better believe that if Tuohy had said she'd accept it, they would have offered it.
So very clear that NXN was where the best guys were this year (for a change). Although not as clear cut - I'd say the best females were also at NXN. Too bad Claudia chose FL over NXN. Hopefully Claudia and Katelyn can talk this spring at one of those "dream" races, and agree to meet at either NXN or FL next year. I'd prefer they met at NXN because FL course at Balboa is a dog track.
How many seconds behind Lane would the #2 at FL need to be for Chmiel to be considered #3 in the nation?
I say 30 seconds+
