I've been wondering this forever. Is it more relaxing to walk in repetitive loops? Are the neighborhood sidewalks to hilly or something?

I legit once saw a black lady drive her car to the track, get out, set up a baby stroller, put her baby in, and start pushing her baby in the stroller in Lane 1. Why on earth it was more convenient to do this than just go on a walk starting at her house, I couldn’t say if my life depended on it. People are unfathomable.
It's always old asian ladies with their strawhats and north face jackets. They also almost always bring 3 grand kids that ride in their little bicicles.

Wow that must be a crazy sight to see- 3,000 little kids toddling around the track on bikes!! ?

Often true
There is an obesity epidemic in the states and you blokes complain about people exercising. Get over yourselves. Take to opportunity to encourage people on their walk of life and the time to educate and share wonderful tales of athletes.

No thanks. There are infinitely many ways to exercise more and eat less - they don't need the neighborhood's only all-weather track to get their steps in!

This is almost 100% of the track walkers I've seen. I've just assumed that it's cultural, seeing as walking for leisure on the crowded roads in Asia is kind of dangerous.
As long as they stay the F out of lane 1 it's all good.
What is a “normie”?

There are a lot of areas in our great country that are very pedestrian unfriendly.
Pedestrians get hit by cars on streets all the time. The rarely get hit on the track.
Instead of asking questions you know the answers to just to complain about the answers, just complain. Takes less time.

Perhaps she's trying to get an early start on her babies training for the sprints.
When they are walking around a track, they do not need to know running. Additionally, they really do not need to know let's run culture. Unless you are running 14 flat or under which maybe one or two of you are, you are not good enough for the judgment you render. 99% of you.

I don't mind them as long as they stay in the outside lane.

I wouldn't either (if they stayed in the outside lanes), I just don't understand why they're there. Plenty of better parks nearby.

Simple, it's safe.
No cars, no bikes, no dogs.
Mileage is easy to calculate.
Says the guy who lives where they lock up 95% of the tracks to the public.
