No, this is not just a haha joke.
Not in any way, shape or form.
What you and the other false elites fail to realize is that nobody is required to do a Turkey Trot.
Furthermore, if only those with a sub 22 for 5K or sub 48 for 10K were allowed to do it, then you would have races with fields of maybe about 300 because it would block out the mainstay of runners.
Sure, there are people who line up in the wrong spot. In the race(s) I did yesterday, I had to maneuver around some people who were probably considerably slower than their anticipated pace in the 10K. I still placed 50th with a 42:27. Could I have broken 42? Maybe. But this is a turkey trot, not a USATF series race.
In the subsequent 5K I did, I just relaxed and did a fairly easy 22:48. Why? I knew that kids would speed up and stop, people would run 3 or 4 abreast, people would cut people off and people would overestimate what pace they could do. So, knowing that, and that it was a thanksgiving day turkey trot, I just ran a "pleasant" race.
As a result of all inclusive races that are well-provisioned like ours in Oceanside, CA, it got close to 10,000....not 300-500.
People deal with enough pressure as it is from people who choose to be cruel and call it joking.
They do not need it on thanksgiving day, when many are running to be able to balance out their eating.
When you relegate their fun to times on a clock or the starting line? You start to be a jerk. Your man your are defending went whole hog.
I will always defend people against this mentality that you and others have until I am too feeble or too dead to stop.
Capisce?
