He has cross country next year but not track
He's listed by the school and NCAA results as a junior, so Grant Fisher's job just got a lot harder.
FloTrack and Letsrun listed NAU as not returning Baxter. He does in fact have XC next year.
NAUs roster:
Matt Baxter
Tyler Day
Peter Lomong
Geordie Beamish
Luis Grijalva
Soren Knudsen
Blaise Ferro
Yikes.

We listed him as a senior because, when we checked on Saturday, he was listed as a senior on NAU's website. NAU has since updated the roster and now lists him as a junior.
FYI, I confirmed with NAU that yes, Baxter does have XC eligibility next year.
NAU has done a great job, and Tyler Day has risen from just a good high school runner (4:20 and 9:28) to 3rd at the NCAA CC meet. Amazing.
When was the last time a school brought back 3 top 10 finishers from the year before?

2010 OKST
5-6-7 also returned their 4&5 who were 25 and 30, they would finish 2nd the next year though.....
How does Baxter have eligibility left!?! He went to University in NZ prior to coming to the US?

Didn't Girma redshirt that next year though?
Just did a quick check, and 2003 Stanford returned 4 of the previous year's top 10, plus Ryan Hall who went from the 30's the year before to 2nd in 2003. Damn...

Yeah and in 04 Don Sage was coming off back to back top ten finishes and had a tiny bit of an off day and finished 13th. He didn’t even score for the Cardinal.
What a team.
