That's amazing!!!!! Good for Colin! I was super interested to see if he could actually do it, and to smash by 22 seconds is very impressive!
Wow she has a shot to make the GB team with that time!
wonder if he'll keep at it
I was wondering about this! Hadn't heard anything since the original post! The dude looks good too! Glad to see him reach his goal.
Enjoyable read. Thanks for sharing!
With that mileage, he should have run sub1430 in spite of age.
starting from 24min 5k with that weight is a very high starting line.
Egotistical attention seeker...
Lol this dude is just about the richest 5k runner ever. Bigger payday than anyone here.
Save me reading all the blogs - what kind of mileage was he doing
Great run by him and many others here but not surprised at all as the course is outrageously fast with 5 laps of a flat as pancake cycle track. Certainly the fastest 5km in the UK. Someone like Dewi Griffiths in current shape would run around 13.30-45 on this. I ran 17.5X on it a few years ago and was barely in sub 18.45 shape.

I would say you were in 17.5x shape, or it was SHORT.

Yea this. Even something like that is still slower on the track. And if Bekele runs 12:37 on the track were not going to say he is in 12:55 shape.
Great accomplishment by Colin and very inspirational. This thread has already brought out the worst of lets run, bunch of jealous, bitter, geeky trolls.

I think it was good, especially because it was a motivation for him to shed the extra weight.
I am not a troll but I don't find it surprising that a guy who ran 3:37 for 1500m 7 years ago can run sub 16 for 5k after losing excess weight.
Again, kudos to him for getting back in shape and running a good time. I hope he will stay fit from now on.
He's on Strava, probably running 40 mpw or less. Lots of fast paces
why do you think that he cant run sub16 easily?

I agree, its good to hear of someone getting themselves (partially) back in shape, but he's run 14.29 road and 13.59 track before so more a case of 'onwards upwards' from now on. And best of luck to him.
TALENT. That's all...No matter how many miles and how hard I train I'll never be able to go sub 15 for 5K....
So he should stop saying that is all about hard work...BS
