Cause Edna took her 1 spot on the team.

Too many foreigners running at NM and SF! Some is ok.
Ok let's say she is actually 22, we should still be miffed that a 22-year-old is a sophomore in terms of eligibility, meaning she would be 24 two years from now as a senior. That is still garbage and clearly exploiting NCAA rules.
is the n word not blocked on this forum?? Jesus mods you guys actually are racist

Technically there's no rule against recruiting 26 year old kenyans and ethiopians, but you are destroying the spirit of the sport and robbing the rest of the ncaa out of a fair shot
I wonder Ednah and her coach are proud of her individual victory....I wouldn't be proud if I went out and dominated a pee-wee football league at the age of 22
Ah, the obligatory "Find a way to bash President Trump regardless of the thread topic" post. I guess I'll have to counter with:
It's like Bill Clinton. Technically there is no law against getting a BJ from your intern, but it is extremely unethical and definitely makes him a piece of crap.
Now, let's please stick to the topic of Ednah Kurgat.
Kenyans have a long history of forgery, I believe the IAAF rules committee over any Kenyan worried about their future in America. Running a Senior IAAF race is something IAAF take serious, doubt they got it wrong. Wejo loves his Kenyans. I wouldn't be surprised if letsrun changes it's name to African News Daily. One of the reasons don't I come here as much. If another site can ever compete against letsrun and be more pro American I will be gone tomorrow.
+1 ---- hilarious response

Where was she two years ago then? Ednah has improved considerably on American soil, perhaps the Kenyans' underestimated her. Genetics isn't destiny, and not every genetic complement has the same potential. It took hard work, coaching and perhaps a little return to altitude in New Mexico. We appreciate the Kenyans, would Galen Rupp, Courtney Frerichs or Emma Coburn know what they were capable of, it it weren't for the Kenyans?
You are talking through your hat about about something you know nothing about. Judge Ednah on her own merits.

Lol, what a mind reader you are. Who knows what Alice's expectations were for herself in this 6k. She was the 4th place NM runner, performing at about the same level as two seasons ago. She would probably love to make the same kind of leap in performance that Ednah Kurgat or her UK teammate Charlotte Taylor has, but has to figure out if it is in her body to do it. No one who has seen the last two NCAA 10k finals will doubt her fearless mental toughness. In the last one, Taylor motored away from her in the last lap, someone she had beaten on the international stage at the European U23 cross country championships. Letsrun.com has great interviews with her after both 2nd place finishes that show how gracious she is.
Can the uninformed inference, and let her figure things out. Congrats Alice on another championship!
There are plenty International meets on the calendar for future development, why can't American college students have their own championship, one Americans can call their own? Personally I think it hurts American development.
Wasn't Daniel Komen only 20 when set the current 3K word record? How relevant is that, you might be asking? From 19yr of age you have the capacity to be the fastest human ever and therefore no one should be whining. If Edna attended classes like everyone else and had the requisite credits and wasn't given any undue favor, her win is legit and should be appreciated. End of the story.

Because NCAA is an "American college" championship. Not an "American" college championship.
Guess what, American colleges have large numbers of foreign students attending.

Technically, a college/university doesn't even need to be in the USA to be an NCAA member institution. Simon Fraser in British Columbia, Canada is NCAA DII. It's only a matter of time before other international schools join Division I. What will the international haters say then (and now, regarding Simon Fraser)?
As long as Ednah has completed the Kenyan equivalency of high school, hasn't been competing as a pro runner, and is eligible under NCAA rules then there's no reason she shouldn't be allowed to run!!! Props to her for getting an education and using her running ability to stay out of debt.

Booo Hoo, I know her personally, no one cares. She is a stinking age cheat, but will cry that people are being mean to her because she is black, and the snowflakes will defend her. Pathetic.
OK, your handle suggests you favor the NCAA implementing some kind of age restriction yet you say she is an "age cheat". So, do you claim there is currently an age limit? If so, what is it? If you acknowledge that there is none, how could she be cheating? What rule is being broken?
In NCAA rules a person has one year after high school and then the clock begins. Ednah, if she is the age that her IAAF profile states that means she would have been out of high school for several years, in NCAA rules after the first year out of HS the clock begins.
If she was born in Kenya how do we know her Birth Certificate is legit? This is a reasonable question based on the fact that the IAAF website says otherwise.

Close, but not quite. The 5 year clock does not start automatically after 1-year post high school. An individual has to compete after that 1-year to start the clock, or enroll at a college full-time.
Perhaps everyone here should first try and read the NCAA rules rather than posting their own made-up rules? No wonder some teams can dominate, they actually read the rule book and try and build the best team possible - just like Liberty tried to do with Ednah Kurgat.
Looks like a democrat.
