Does anyone else find Fisher's body geometry/running form fascinating? His legs seem so large and muscular, really long femurs maybe? And his hip motion is just rock solid. I feel like I have similar leg length/proportions. Not what you might typically find on a runner but he really makes it work.
His form is majestic
no, it's the video. I live near him (when he comes back to Michigan). not big at all, just looks that way around many overly skinny guys. -
Kigen caught now, NAU 1-2 and Knight with him. 10m behind is another Bama guy, then big gap. Fisher starting to move up now
-
Two NAU men and Knoght caught up

NCAAs 5k splits aren't working. What a joke. The #1 thing that must work is the splits.

Is that why there are 7 Kenyans in the top 12? Wait until next year's cold in Wisco! Brrrr!
-
Lead pack of 4 with Kigen, Baxter, Day, and Knight.
-
Live timing not updating after 4k
-
NAU 1-2, Knight, Bama 1-2, Fisher moving up with NAU's 3 past the first group
-
What a strange direction for the comments to take.
-
No updates since 4k so far.
-
Looks like there was intended to be a 5K split but no timing set up, or the NCAA live results site isn't updating properly.

I chuckled after reading "Day and Knight" somehow. Thanks for the update. -

Night and Day?! -
Kigen falling off
-
people live-streaming need to start listing all the splits/positions!!!
-
Updating now and it says that they're going through 5k in 23 min. Either they screwed up or this is a race I could win
-
Are you saying Casey is in 4th now?

I think it's fascinating to see what Stanford has done to him. He ran in my conference in high school and his unorthodox, mechanical running form always made me think he was such an inefficient runner. He never looked fluid until he got to Stanford. One of us is a sub-4 miler though so hey he can do what he wants.
One thing I've noticed that I've always thought about when looking at Fisher even now is that his feet seemed slightly turned inwards when he steps. Looks like he has great knee drive but kinda pigeon-toed. Anyone else agree? And does anyone think this is inefficient in any way?
Has his leg action changed much since high school? I want to say not but am not really sure. The biggest change that sticks out to me is his arm action. Generally we see that acute elbow angle on African runners, and it often comes with a more pronounced forward lean and looser shoulders. Fisher seems to only have the angle, but he doesn't look as stiff as someone like Rupp (not to say Rupp isn't a good looking runner). I was watching the 5000m from NCAA's and noticed Fisher also doesn't seem to drive his elbows back, something else I would asscociate with that angle.
He does look fantastic though. I've not noticed the foot direction but it does seem that his legs are closer together. Certainly it seems that his feet point more forward than other runners, whose may point slightly outwards.
