In theory I agree, but when you look at the circumstances of these folks from Kenya deal with, I'm happy these dudes get the cash. It may not be fair, in theory, but that bit of cash can go a LONG way back in Kenya. It can provide for a lot of people.
I have no problem with foreigners coming in and winning prize money. Some of the big marathons add an additional prize for top american, which I think is great.
Anyway, I really like that the Richmond marathon added this rule: "Elite entry and prize money rules state that to be eligible for elite entry or the prize purse at the Anthem Richmond Marathon, Markel Richmond Half Marathon, and VCU Health 8k, an athlete must not be represented by coaches and/or agents who have had two or more athletes suspended or banned for the use of performance-enhancing drugs in the previous four years," Sports Backers said in a news release. "
It is a more restrictive rule than the WADA "associated persons" rule.
