This should get some good responses.
I am happy to hear this! I think she will race well, and after a year of consistent training/racing she will shine again. Talent like that doesn't go away. And Mary Cain is exceptionally talented.

Mary Decker had a similar experience- greatness very young, disappeared, came back strong.
I hope Mary is successful.
Agreed!

An interesting comparison. Mary D at Athletics West = Mary C at NOP?
take your time coming back mary! please learn from the ones that came before you.
I was just literally running by the spot where I last saw Cain last thanksgiving. I didn't realize it was that serious.
I hope she comes back but the running scene has changed a lot.
That wasn't the most inspirational or excited statement. I think they just felt like they owed you a response.
What kind of injury takes you out for 15+ months?
Update Mary Cain is!
she'll have had time to re-light the fire and without the fire, no amount of talent is going to bring her back.
Certainly among the most talented we have ever had, 1:59.5/4:04/15:45 (tempoish) at 17, plus 55 or better speed .
I was going to compare her to Melody Fairchild. Phenomenal High School Career. Disappeared for a while. Came back and won two national championships. Disappeared for a while and came back and did some stuff as a masters runner. Phenomenal talent that had to fight to many battles off the track.

Good for her!
Can't wait to see what she can do.
I have it on good knowledge that Mary is targeting Olympic Gold in the triathlon.

Agreed. This is very exciting news. Hope she takes things slow. Crazy to think she's just 21 since she obviously burst on the scene so young.

Talent can vanish overnight. You can find dozens of examples in all sports.
Marathon gold in Tokyo 2020!
