This pic is worth a thousand posts on her competitive focus and capabilities:
It's no wonder she is looking for some real competition.

Too tall? Isn't Paul Tergat 6'1"?
The funny thing about them saying that tall women have not excelled in the marathon, is, UHHhh, NO DUH? Women are nto usually 5'10" period. Not the Anglo-Saxon, European and East African women that are so good at the marathon. It isn't that very few tall people excel at the marathon, just that there are very few truly tall women (5'10" to 6'0") at all.
As an aside, the tallest world-class runner right now is 6'1". Christina Hering, 800m
Klosterhalfen is 5'9" and does OK at distance.
The quotes were obviously there because the post he/she was responding to had "conception" in quotes. Jorgensen's due date was August 3rd. That makes her conception date around November 10th, 2016. The NYC Marathon was November 6th 2016, which yes, makes the technical beginning of her first trimester, her previous period about 10 days before that.

I believe that distance running attracts more quiet, realistic, modest and humble people than other sports, and those people are uncomfortable with an outsider/triathlete coming in and making bold statements.
Yes. You are correct to believe that, because it is true. Distance running is about respecting the distance, and treating the sport with reverence. Distance runners are optimistic - very optimistic. However, there is a humble, non-vocal approach to it. You let your running do the talking, and the less attention that it receives, the better.
African runners don't talk or tell you what they are going after, unless you ask them. They just simply graduate from one distance to another, and next thing you know they are the WR holder or the best runner in their specific distance. The running talks. The miles talk. The pace talks. The PRs talk, and the form and ability of the runner talks. But the mouth utters no words. It's just there to breathe.
It's like what Jordan Hasay did in the Chicago Marathon. She just went after it. She didn't talk about it, or say she was going to beat that person, or take down a particular american time. Her running did all the talking . We never saw it coming. We never expected 2:20. The expectations for Jordan was 2:23, because there were no pacers, and that is what she ran in Boston. But then it happened. She went with Dibaba, and even led at one point. It was beautiful.
That's running, bro - It is not about some inexperienced marathoner, former triathlete ,who has never raced against elite marathoners, or produce an elite time, or has done elite marathon training.........What she is doing is loud. It's pretentious. It's delusional, and it is arrogant. Marathon running, or distance running in general, is not about those actions.
As kipchoge once stated: " In kenya, marathon is life".
Let's SEE if Gwen is about that life.....Keyword: SEE. Not hear about it.

She doesn't look strong enough in the quads to be competitive over shorter running events.

Well, they could be worse:

She ran a 5:19 pace at the 10 mile championships in Minnesota last fall before NYC. Jordan Hasay was also in that race and ran 5:17 pace, so we're talking about a time difference of less than 1%. You don't think going back to dedicated running training could close a gap of 0.7%?
I hope you understand how specious this is. I assume others have pointed this out, but if you believe either that
1) Hasay was going close to all-out, or
2) Jorgenson being that close to her at 10 miles would translate to a similar percentage difference in the marathon,
then YOU ARE ON CRACK. End of story.

And if you believe that Gwen had trained at all for that distance then YOU ARE ON CRACK. Lets see what she does with some focused training on long distance running. Sounds to me like you are worried tbh.

Gwen has added an inch. She's 5'9.
PHEW! All this time I've been saying nine inches just to hang with the other big boys here, but now that I know what the typical exaggeration is, I can say with no shame that I'm barely eight. The wife jokes about it all the time.
Hope and dreams are great but when reality sets in life is a btch. She will run faster without question but she doesn't realize a group of women are running sub 2:20. We will follow her closely with interest!
When is her first full time marathon training marathon race??
Remember Priscilla Welsh? Never ran a marathon until the age of 35. Won New York at the age of 43.
Gwen is still in her athletic prime. She's got a big aerobic base and not too many miles in the legs. Tall, graceful runners are fun to watch. I wish her nothing but the best.
I am wondering how she will earn money know, only with her sponsors? Because she will not win a major marathon anytime soon. And if she' s not winning anything at the end of the day her sponsors will eventually leave.
Will she be running 140 miles a week at 7,000 feet. Because otherwise she needs to shut up.

That was before the east africans, and at a time when Europe was dope central!

The fact remains that she ran 2:26 at the age of 43. And if you've read anything about Welsh, it's very unlikely she ever doped.
In two years Jorgensen will be the top American woman marathoner or very near to being at the top, but that still probably won't get her an Olympic gold medal. That will go to an African.
Her biggest problem is time, considering where she is starting from it going to take her a solid 3 years just to compete at top the level.
Is everyone accounting for the fact that Jerry Shumacher is now the most successful women's marathon coach in history? If anyone can help Gwen tap into her obvious potential, its Schu.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
