Pipe down there Josh.
He’s going to get so fast there! I’ve watched him race and he always looks very relaxed. He will be able to improve a lot in college!
Where is this information coming from? It's not on milesplit so I'm just curious as to how this is known. I do know that Stanford was one that he was looking at
Jerry steered him away from the UO/NOP pipeline.

His sister’s social media
Not a big surprise that he's not Wisconsin-bound, I suppose

So can we not give them the credit or blame then? Kid was going to improve a lot no matter where he went.
He's going to Stanford. I've heard it from multiple sources.
Congrats to him. But this is a 15:10 5k cross country runner. Why is this news?

Jerry Schumacher's son. That makes it news worthy.
Joshua is a 3:53/8:29 and Oregon HS state champion at 3000m. He was 2nd at state XC last year, but only 4th this year (must have been bad race or sick/injured). His high school Jesuit took 1st.
His sister Makenna won the state XC meet last week. Jesuit HS also took 1st for girls.

Tbh I’m more excited to see his sister’s potential. She ran a 9:42 3k as a sophomore. That’s a 10:20 3200. Sick stuff.
Funny how Jerry isn't the 'helicopter parent' to his own son like Al was to Galen, not even his own son.

Do you see Jerry going to Stanford to be an 'Assistant Coach' so he can personally coach his own son?
If his name was Young or Smith Stanford would not know who he is much less offer a scholarship.
very nice job in stepping back, letting his kids develop intelligently and leaving plenty of promise for the future, all under the radar, typical Jerry.

For one, he was in NYC for the marathon instead of the Oregon state meet.

When Rupp was in HS and looking at colleges the Duck coach was Martin Smith. He may be a great midwest coach but was a poor fit at Oregon. Recruiting Rupp was part of the impetus for change at Oregon to bring back magic to Hayward Field and TrackTown. Vin Lananna came in and changed things in a hurry with multiple Oregon NCAA championship teams and the return of the US Olympic Trials to Eugene.
To land Rupp at Oregon Lananna allowed Salazar to write Rupp's workouts. From what I was told Rupp did the workouts with Lananna and his assistant coaches in Eugene and Salazar lived up in Portland.
You are wrong on these points
- Salazar was not an assistant coach at oregon
- Salazar did not move to Eugene when Rupp was there
- Rupp is not Salazar's son
Aside from that I agree that Jerry is unlikely to go to Stanford to coach his son.
Ha, just recalled Pat Tyson was interim coach for a transition year between Smith and Lananna. I think that was Rupp's freshman year. Tyson now doing great job at Gonzaga.
I did not say Rupp was Salazar's son.
If Salazar was writing the workouts, he WAS indeed an, at least off the books, assistant coach.
AlSal has been 'hovering' over Rupp since his HS days.
