Yes, this board is awful. You seem to invoking a bizarre form of logic in which I cannot judge it as such if I in turn say things you think are awful. If I go to Detroit and say "This place is a hellhole!" and then take a dump on a park bench, have I lied about the place being a hellhole?
Are you unaware that the Texas church shooter reportedly was atheist and spoke about the stupidity of believers?

Hitler against smoking. Does that make all who choose abstain from tobacco fascists and anti-semites?
What's the problem with Stephen Colbert? Why more respect6 What are the gossips for the Canadians that don,t have a clue

Colbert has a very biased liberal agenda. His personal brand has a limited reach, and I don’t consider him to be mainstream at all. Flanagan absolutely did the right thing by not tainting her personal brand (and the brands of her sponsors) by appearing on his show. There was little upside to be had by appearing on a show that appeals to specific, non-mainstream liberals.

FYI, Canadian guy, this^ is completely wrong. Colbert is well known, and there was nothing but upside to being on the show. For a professional athlete, there would be ZERO "downside" from a publicity perspective. The guy I quoted is loony.
The worst thing Shalane could do for her career is to make a big stink about Colbert's politics right after winning the NYC Marathon. If she went on the show, it would have been a short segment between the A list celeb and the music/comedian at the end of the show. It would be nice publicity, but it would not have made her a household name.
Why would you not ask Flanagan why she turned down Colbert and instead wants to "just head home"?
Journalism 101 - actually listen to the answers and ask follow-ups. Your follow-up was "Really?" and that was it.
You were so intent on asking and re-asking 'what's next for you?' that you couldn't shift gears when something actually interesting came up.
this whole thread is kind of crazy. did y'all watch the video? she's clearly exhausted and just couldn't do it. i didn't hear any tone to suggest any deeper motivation than that. it would have been nice for the running community and for the good of the sport, but the woman isn't a machine. she hadn't slept after winning a freaking marathon.

Good point. However, I can't help recalling Joan Benoit's morning TV appearance after her 2:22 in Boston in 1983. When asked if she was tired she indicated it was less from the race than from staying up the entire night dancing. We were more wild in those days I guess.
Only gay/tranny democrats find Colbert entertainment.
Shalane was glowing. Had to get the heck out of dodge to avoid testers.

Why in the world would Shalane not want to go on a talk show where last week Colboring went on a "hilarious" rant where he used candybar names to call Amuricans "dum dums" if they don't like Carl Marx? It was so creative and insightful! How could you not want to meet him?
Wow, it's amazing to see which posts bring all of the LR crazies out of the woodwork.

Shalane went on GMA and Kelly and Ryan.

Her money comes from sponsors and sponsors want exposure. Turning down one of the most viewed shows on TV is unlikely to please them. Also, her future appearance fees are predicated on her celebrity status. Being on national TV would increase her stock. It would also elevate the sport in America.
It is highly unlikely that Colbert would press her on some political front or suggest the race was rigged. Even if she disagrees with the politics of the show, she could politely decline any related question or even politely disagree.
This was a dumb move.
That kind of sounds like integrity. Some people have different values I guess.
Very few Africans invited in the women's race this year. The pack at halfway shockingly white.

oh, and a related question
When BTC and NOP athletes travel to majors (track or road), do they fly a Nike plane or coach on a public carrier?
have heard that the stars of NOP have it in contracts with meet/race directors that they fly 1st class
But there are also times when they use the company plane like when Rupp needed to do an track workout and snow coverd the track so he flew to Seattle to use the UW indoor track

Agreed, he's like some dude that had a show on the Comedy Channel or something. Very limited appeal. Limited upside for sure.
Oh, just stop. You're wrong on multiple grammatical accounts; and I can plainly see what type of attitude you have. It's the kind that thinks they can never be wrong. It's the type that thinks they are all knowing, and everyone else is below them. Judging from what you've written in this thread, it's also the kind that would be perfectly fine with others dying. I find that very odd for a human to say that about another. Further, your discriminatory and offensive statements speak volumes to your character. It's just not going to be worth any further effort on my part to engage in conversation with a person like that, grammatical or otherwise. So, I wish you luck with that dangerous attitude. I can assure you that it will eventually come back to bite you in the @$$.
