Why do people get so upset about running a race unregistered (bandit)

I understand y'all aren't exactly implying this, but there are a few other people on here that have justified their actions by saying that the race makes tons of money, so it won't hurt.

So they're a business. And we're stealing their product.

And now I can walk into Costco and take what I want because, well, I'm a member and they make lots of money.

1. I am past my prime and I already have 100 race t-shirts

2. Same as above and I don't need any more finishers medals

3. Race entry fees are too high now that most are for profit ventures; I don't see the need to pay $50-$100 to run well below my best; see also (1) and (2)

4. Overall, do not care. Streets are public and I pay plenty in taxes so I will use them when I want.

I have lots of food.

Food is too expensive.

So I just take it and don't pay.

Central Park is a unique situation, becasue there are races there almost every weekend and there are people out just running there too at the same time. However, NYRR clearly marks the course with pylons/cones to allow everyone else to run and bike in the park while a race is going on. Bibbed racers should be inside the cones on the course and everyone else should be outside the course.

This is kind of boring. A more interesting question would be:

Cheaters vs Bandits

Which is worse?

Aren’t bandits cheaters? ?

The rules say register for the race or don't run it. ?

People pay good money to sign up for some of these races, and we don't need some chump to show up and run the course without registrating just to be a wiseguy.

If you can't afford or don't want to pay to register, then mark a course in your neighborhood and run a time trial or something - free of charge...who would have thought. ?
