No, the opposite. I think he was holding on for dear life. Kamworor is a HM God and good marathoner. And Kip was closing.
Yep, this. Kamworor was certainly very happy that marathons are 26.2 miles and not 26.4. He was spent and his stride was really starting to get short and choppy.
Too bad we didn't see how it happened. I was thrilled to see Shalane win, but they did like 10' of womens finish line coverage without showing a snip of the mens race, even with split screen. Probably Kipsang had enough fitness, but didn't have the gear change Kamworor did.
Kipsang probably had as much as Kamworor in the tank, but doesn't seem like he executed well. Not only did the pace dawdle against a HM master and sub 27:00 10k guy with a passable kick, but Kipsang also allowed a large gap to open up to said track runner.
