I don't think that was a wise move for Ghirmay. I truly hope this doesn't come to bite him towards the end.

5:03 pace so far, an easy pace for these guys but sometimes it is hard to shift gears after an hour at that pace even though they are fresh, but whoever can shift into 4:50 range now will be in the mix for the win
This thread is fcking painful to read. Very little about the actual race, but a lot of complaints about the coverage, "mommy, where can I watch it for free?", etc.

6 men caught up with Gheb. Meb now in chase pack.
Actually Meb is in a chase pack of 1 by himself. Looks like he's trying to catch back up to the leaders.
I've been watching this marathon on ESPN2 while watching the New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) Power Struggle show from this morning on my second computer monitor, and I swear to goodness I think I've seen more actually running on the wrestling show in the last hour.
That's because the coverage is below par. It is pathetic!
Ghebrselassie's move has strong out men's race. and dropped Meb. Meb is now 7-10 seconds back.
Damn what I hate with major marathon is this tv coverage, who cares about a bunch of hobbyjoggers and so called celebrity while the elites are going threw the half way point.
Meb just took something from one of the bikers. I don't think that's allowed.
I've seen "orange turban guy" about 4 times throughout the past 2 hours of ESPN2 coverage...
Still 9 women in lead pack: Keitany, Saina, Flanagan, Kiplagat, Daska, Tuliamuk, Deba, Dossena and Vrabcova

It's actually impressive how little of the actual race they've shown.
Mile 12: 4:57 (1:00:43) Ghebreslassie taking off just before 13 miles. Making a hard move as they climb up the Pulaski Bridge.
20k: 1:02:49 (15:33)
Mile 13: 4:55 (1:05:38)
Half: 1:06:09. Ghebreslassie has a lead of two seconds. Now seven men in the lead group and they have a big gap. Meb in no man’s land in 8th.

Eurosport commentator once Meb dropped off: "The cream are rising to the top" - does he not realize that Meb has won NYC and Boston?
Being the cream yesterday and sour milk today is not an incongruous statement.

Are you new here? That's what we do for every marathon. It's tradition.
Keitany, the gloves are off.
Meb back with leaders!
All the sites I go to for Eurostream make me give a credit card number, which I'm hesitant to do even if they say they won't charge it.
Are others giving their credit card number, or is there a way around that?
I bet that prude who hates bun tights is writing a letter to the FCC
