I've been working on codifying our pre-season program in a document that I can give to incoming assistant coaches. I'd probably also link this on my team's web page for any kids that were interested and maybe sit the team down at the end of a competitive season to explain what their upcoming off season should look like (after appropriate rest, of course). This mostly applies to summer training prior to cross, but would also work for distance kids during the winter off season.
The suggested workouts are just samples based on the principles listed. I would encourage any kids that were interested to sit down and write out what a sample week for him or her might look like based on training history and achieved race times.
