I was hoping for something else when I saw "race porn."
Very interesting, thanks a lot for sharing!
I so love runners
Thank you very much.
That's cool. Would love to see that kind of community event around the country a few times/ places each summer.
Also, those Hoka jackets in 90s colors were pretty rad. Any leads on where to find one of those?
Excellent.
niche white event.
How dare runners with different sponsors fraternize with one another. Hopefully some of them will be losing contracts.
I did! I watched it. Thank you.
Cool film BUT oh my goodness. Is there anything worse than a track guy getting a tattoo on their upper right thigh? Just to show off to the spectators when they're rocking split shorts???
I watched it and it was GOOOOD.
Thank you!
This is a great video. If you love running and dream of traveling to Alaska watch it. It is the story of top American runners trying to break the 4 minute mile up in the challenging conditions that Alaska presents. It is a beautiful and inspiring video. When I coached in Alaska I had the opportunity to watch Trevor Dunbar's father run the greatest race I have ever seen at any level. Mark Dunbar was going to triple at the state meet (800, 1600 and 3200). He had to run heats of the 800 and the 1600 on Friday and then come back for the finals in all three event the next day - Saturday. He wanted to run one great time even though he had to run 5 races in two days. I was coaching at Lathrop High school and we had a great runner in Mike Kramer who was going to race Mark in the 1600 and the 3200. So on Friday we are watching the heats of the 800 meters and Mark Dunbar is toeing the line for the start of his 800 meters heat. We all knew he was going to triple so everyone expected that he would run as slow as possible to just qualify for Saturday's final in the 800. They fire the gun and everyone in the crowd is just asleep. Mark Dunbar takes off at nearly a full sprint and I just watched in disbelief. He comes through the 400 meters in 49.0+ and I am screaming. I am screaming at the crowd to wake up and watch what was occurring because outside of a few people no one had a clue. He was almost 100 meters ahead of the second place runner. He continued to blast through the heat and finished in what was then the American record of 1:48.0+. It was the fastest time ever run by a high school boy and its was so cold and it was raining off and on. I have never seen another race run that was so gutty and inspiring.

This right here! Bring Back the Mile and Let's Run should put these on around the country.

Yeah, that happens for all races (no pun intended). It'd be like having a rap battle in the east side of Cleveland, and someone like you dismissing it as a niche black event. You must see the world from a very different perspective.
When I was in high school a runners bbc slipped out of his shorts during the 200. That was double race porn if you catch my drift.
You reading this Brojos? This would be awesome.

Based on the thread title I thought this was going to be the story of an Alaskan hobby jogging mom trying to break 4 hours in a marathon. I'm glad for the surprise.
